Re: Canon products to get costlier
Impact of the US dollar? Isn't the camera equipment being produced in China and Canon is a Japanese company? Then how does the rising cost of US dollar effects products being sold in India, apart from the fact that the price of with bill stuff is coming closer to products in the grey marker, which is actually good for Canon India!

Yen has also appreciated wrt INR.

Till 1sth Oct, INR lost 16.5% versus USD from Apr 1, while JPY lost 4.2%. Thats a direct appreciation.

even RMB lost less, so whether made in JPY or China, its costlier in INR

Still, when there are rebates going in US and despite paying the middle men for imports, one can get a digital camera from US for 20% less and sometime even more, despite the fact that US too gets goods manufactured in China and Malaysia, I kind of feel bad.

Blame taxation on that, not Canon.

In an ideal world, we'd all pay duty on that amriki camera too
