help picking up best point and shoot camera?
Hi. as you all know i lost my cam on my trip to leh and its time for me to get a new point and shoot camera (dslr will be quite heavy to take places on frequent visits) that is pretty sleek and jam packed with some cool features.
i have gone through few camera and here's the list i want you guys to put in ur suggestions which one is better taking in prospective the image quality , after sales and should be at least 8Mp or above max range should be 15K though i would prefer 10k approx. and pls feel free to drop in other brands and models too.
should have video recording with voice.
dont want to go in for sony as they dont have common ports and MMC are expensive and not compatible with other devices
1. Fujifilm 7.1 MP Digital Camera - Model No: S700(has a feel of dslr)
2. Panasonic Lumix 8.1 MP Digital Camera Model No: LS80
3.Canon PowerShot A570 IS
and please rate cameras according to you.
thanx

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
My vote goes to the first one on your list.
Warning: This vote comes from an ignoramus in the technicalities of photography! Only that the results from Fuji cameras do seem special. I have no idea why!

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
I vote for the Canon.
I m personally of the opinion that nothing beats Canon in P&S. So A570IS it is. Did u chek out the A720IS? The Fuji which u have selected has no Optical Image Stabilization n for cam having 10x zoom with no OIS its sheer waste, because its not always feasible to carry tripod with u, but if u can then only keep it in ur choices.
Also have a look at the Canon SX 100IS and Panasonic TZ4

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
I would also vote for Canon, at least in point and shoot it has the best noise performance and good picture quality. My vote would go to either A590IS or A720IS, the problem with A590IS is that slightly less zoom than A720IS (4x vs. 6x) and it can only shoot videos in 20fps.
Like Decius said, it does not make sense to pick up a high zoom camera without optical image stabilization (digital one is a fluff) because you will usually get blur photographs when zoomed in unless you use tripod or shoot only in bright sunny afternoon.

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
I have Canon S3IS and Fuji Finepix A900..
I am satisfied with both..
I will recommend both the brands..test shoot some pics from both the cams and decide which is best for u..
I have seen one Olympus cam (model was mju 1010-not sure)which was slim in size and still had decent optical zoom(5X or above dun remmeber).check that also.

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
TZ11 = TZ4 and here it's review http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_...sonic_tz4.html
Overall its a nice camera, if you are planning to purchase it in India then check out Canon SX100 and A650IS which cost almost the same but offer manual controls and slightly better ISO performance at the expense of wide angle.

The regular public service message:
Kindly reconsider a lumix unless the word noise sounds like music to your ears!

Re: help picking up best point and shoot camera?
From what I have seen, Nikon P&S seems to have a bad noise performance. Though their DSLR are quite good.
