On a recent BCMTouring meet, we went to Safdarjung's Tomb and Old Delhi (Chandni Chowk and Red Fort).
While initially the plan was to go to Lotus Temple, when we arrived there, we found it closed! So we headed for Safdarjung's Tomb to indulge in photography. ![]() More photographs to follow soon... |

Ok lets first tell you exactly what happened during the meet, so that photos can follow without any issue.
When I reached Lotus Temple, Narender and Deepak were already present and had the bad news to tell me, Lotus Temple is closed on Sunday. With Lotus Temple out of bounds for photography, it was now time to come up with a backup plan, before that we had to wait for Dhairya, our meet convenor to turn up, who arrived a bit late. After a bit of discussion, we decided to head to Safdarjung's Tomb and later, head for Chandni Chowk. Appraised Salil about our change in plan and told him to meet us at Safdarjung's Tomb. Once at Safdarjung's Tomb, it was time to bring out our weapons of choice (Canon's outnumbered Sony, four to one!) and start shooting to our heart's content. Soon we were joined by Salil, who later showed us his incredible agility and dedication for photography, by climbing a light tower, for better view (kids don't try this at home, school collage, office, monuments etc.). (ladies, he is single!) ![]() Soon he was joined there by Dhairya ![]() Seeing the hooligans and genuinely afraid for the well being of the tower, two guards shouted and told the duo to climb down, while they were in the process of climbing down. After these two kids were done playing Tarzan-Tarzan, we decided to head to Connaught Place. Where we parked our motorcycles at Palika Parking and took the metro to Chandni Chowk. Once at Chandni Chowk, it was time for breakfast and we headed towards paranthe wali gali. After having our fill at Pandit Babu Ram Devi Dayal's restaurant, it was time for some street photography, after which we headed to the famous jalebi wallah for some of his delicious jalebis. After the tasty desert and rest of the guys having drunk some Castrol CRB Plus tea, it was time to head to Red Fort. Before which we said goodbye to Deepak, who had to leave early. Since the day was quite hazy, we decided to keep the photography limited to indoor shots at the market and Salil got busy shooting portraits (everyone please bug him to post some of his paparazzi work!). By 1 o'clock, Dhairya and I too decided to head back home and bid Salil and Narender farewell, who decided to stick around for a bit more photography. ----The End---- Now guys lets see some photographs from the meet. |
