There is a particular season where-in the earth passes a belt of small comet debris area.Its around october -november every year where in chances if you seeing a meteor is more.Called the leonoids shower.

Grab you bike and head for the area suitable for star grazing.
Did not witness it personally but a few years ago the shower was said to be very very spectacular with shooting stars all over the place like cosmic fireworks.
