This was during the first Leh trip that I did, 2 years ago in September 2005. I and Crimson (Sumit) left the rest of the gang (Manik, Shamik, Yogesh and SunilG) to chill out in Leh, and left early so we could cover Zanskar on our way back to Srinagar. Ofcourse, I didn't have my SLR then, so I tried to make the best use of my old Kodak cam.
Some photos: ![]() The PWD rest house at Sanko. The best PWD rest house we have ever stayed. Cost us just 100 for a night. ![]() The Parkachik glacier. ![]() Road to Zanskar ![]() ![]() The colors of Zanskar ![]() The colors that you can see only in September. ![]() River Suru ![]() Even the rocks that make the mountains were carefully chosen so as to add color to the landscape! ![]() ![]() And the water too it seems... ![]() That's the road. ![]() Never seen a place so colorful in all my travels... ![]() About 4 Kms before Rangdum ![]() Rangdum ![]() Drang Drung glacier. How I wished I had the energy to climb down and stand on the glacier! Salil

Thanks all.
Nav, we reached Rangdum at 5 PM. We had started off from Sanko at around 10 in the morning with lots of stops of photography as you can imagine. Next day, we rode till Drang Drung, visited the Rangdum monastery and started back from the Rangdum pwd rest house at around 12 PM. Were easily made it to Drass by 7. |
