Visual difference between CAM's LCD and CRT desktop
The pix on previewing on the Cam's LCD, looks bright, vivid and sharp. When the same is viewed on crt desktop they look disappointing. Especially low light night shots which completely black out when on desktop. So i resort to PP with brighten, sharpen, levels and contrast adjustment. Is it same with other cams?

Re: Visual difference between CAM's LCD and CRT desktop
That is the case with most cams though not that significant. Have you calibrated your monitor?

Moniter is on normal setting. Not conservative on contrast either. With highest possible resolution. The other pix on this forum looks correct on this monitor though.

Re: Visual difference between CAM's LCD and CRT desktop
Calibrate it using Adobe Gama once, it does make a slight difference and comes in handy if you are editing photographs.
Also majority of the cameras in P and other manual modes have saturation, sharpness and contrast controls, adjust them to give slightly better contrast and saturation. In canon cameras this is simply achieved by using the vivid setting, it might be the case with sony as well.

Oh yes, here are three articles which will help you get the best colors:
Camera Adjustments
How to Drive Your Camera
How to Get Great Colors
And of course the golden mantra of photography, shoot, shoot and shoot some more

Re: Visual difference between CAM's LCD and CRT desktop
Calibration is needed to get the image close to whats seen on the camera's LCD. But again, how do you know that the camera's LCD is showing the right image. In general CRT color reproduction is more accurate than all LCDs (some IPS panel based pro LCDs come close).
So dont worry, ur camera is anyway meant for consumers to show off :P .. real picture quality is seen only in full res.
