Just returned from a trip to kolkata... Stayed at a mediocre hotel in Sudders St. and was lucky to have 2 lunchs at Anand on C. R. Avenue, Kolkata (Nr. Chandni Chowk Metro Station).

It one of the rarely gems of Kolkata... A pure vegetarian restaurant...

Food, ambience & service are good... moreover rates are just right like the taste of their dishes...

Serves South Indian mainly with few north indian items like chats, pav bhaji, choole bhature etc

Would love to visit there any day...

Thanks for this info! I have hardly any clues about "Purely Vegetarian" joints in Calcutta or any city for that matter

I was having a really hard time to find veg restaurant in kolkata... Anand was definitely a welcome relief... To avoid eating in "Mix Veg restaturant" I had ate at lots of filthy road side places.

I never ever had similar problem in any of the towns I visited till date but Kolkata was very different...

There's nothing such as travelogue as it was a regular business trip...

But I had great time going on sightseeing ride with Bagchi and his friends... I think he has showed me almost all the historic places and few other places that are popular with their group... It was simply great...
