Default Siddharth rooftop restaurant, Khajuraho

I dined twice at Hotel Siddharth’s rooftop restaurant during my recent trip to Khajuraho.

Primary reason behind dinning twice there was the fantastic view it provided of the Western Group of Temples. Even though majority of the sound and light show isn’t visible from the restaurant and the temples aren’t illuminated at night. During a few sections of the sound and light show, Visvanatha and Parvati temple get illuminated and this presents itself as a perfect opportunity for some long exposure photography.

Here is one such photograph of western group of temples, I took from the Siddharth’s rooftop restaurant

Now coming back to the food, well it is ok but not really that great. Chef seems to have an affinity to garlic and puts ample amount of it in the main dishes, which I didn’t like. Also the naan is nothing to write home about, though rotis are quite decent and service is fast, prompt and courteous.

A plate of mutter-paneer with 3 rotis, set me back by around Rs. 115 (including taxes), while cold drinks were priced at Rs. 20 each, though mentioned at a slightly higher rate in the menu (I guess guests get some discount).

Overall it is a nice place to spend your late evening at, though if you don’t like garlic, please do remember to request them to scale it down a little. One can also dine at their ground floor restaurant, which has a view of their small garden and somewhat blocked view of the Visvanatha temple.

Here is my review of the accommodation at Hotel Siddharth

Thanks sir, it is mostly open air. Only the tables towards the end have a tin roof.

Thanks Bharat.
