AIIMS paranthe wala
No introduction for its yummy paneer and anda paranthas (consumed by the dozens during my BTech project! ).

Next to the ansari nagar gate of AIIMS (close to Yousuf Sarai side), it serves fundoo paranthas in the wee hours of the night.

Most of us who've studied closeby, would have fond memories of paranthas at AIIMS at 5am many a night

Re: AIIMS paranthe wala
This might sound illogical...but eating next to hospital especially sarkari isnt a great idea if its frequented by people from hospital too.The reason being many patients freak out to have food from their wards.Given the hygiene that must be maintained washing the spoons and all....I think its a risk.

I found out that a food corner in Nair Hospital in Mumbai serves fab samosas and sanwiches.I frequented that place coz my sis used to work there.Later I found out that the food corner is frequented by patients too many of them in their in hospital clothes.Given the way they must be washing their dishes, glasses and spoons I stopped eating there.Simple.Paranoid I am

Moral of the Story:Food from joints near sarkari hospitals maybe a little higher risk if you spot patients eating there even though it might be yummy.

People from all over the country descend on aiims after the doctors in their town find their disease tough to cure

Amit..this is at a safe distance of 500 m from the AIIMS entrance to keep the germs away. for as many times as i've been there i have never come across patients/ their families. And no one except people like us, who have nothing better to do in life in the middle of night end up there

Has anyone never tried out Rajinder da Dhaba? Quite 'near' - at the market behind where Kamal Cinema used to be. That's where the Allianz Motors showroom is now.

Re: AIIMS paranthe wala
Bingo! But the fun of eating there was when it was actually a dhaba, across the road from Kamal.
Now, of course, we do 'take away' most of the time.

Ah, but hasnt it shut down? Its now closed from what i've heard.

I remember how it was such a paradise for non veggies. a fundoo meal with kickass chicken curry and beer was peacefully in 80-90 bucks and the source of all starters for wing daaru parties in IITD!

It was always a order and sit on bike and eat place - the makhni dal was oh so yummy! Atleast in our time - guess aapne alag time dekha thaa.

PS: kabhi milo, darshan do, considering you are nearby!
