Flashlight suggestions
I am planning a trip to Himachal soon (either this month or the next) and planning to indulge in a bit of night photography. Up till now I used to carry a small LED torch; however it isn't bright enough to be used for navigating in dark outdoors so I need to buy a flashlight.

I need something that is small and sturdy enough to be comfortably carried in a backpack and is bright enough to be used outdoors.

Any suggestions?

Flashlight/torch and night photography?AFAIK,most flash lights have a pointed beam, which is quiet unsuitable for lighting needs.

One of my friend uses a torch like this one,v.powerful, runs on 6 'D' size batteries.
Best part is the head part can be turned to get pointed beam or spread beam.
Its damn sturdy.Try to look for these at bazars.

Not planning to light up the areas for photography, for that I would probably need a jeep with a powerful search light . Basically I need something that I can use to see the trail properly so as to get to a spot from where photography can be done properly.

Led torchlights are bad for that as the beam spreads too much and one can't see in far off distance. I am basically looking for something like what you have posted.

Re: Flashlight suggestions
^Its not manufactured here,You will have to hunt a bit, costs anywhere between 800~1500 bucks. If you are indoors, lits up the entire room.

Else try to pick one of these,

Not good as the one in above post, but decent enough and quiet affordable.

Re: Flashlight suggestions
I actually had a similar flashlight from eveready, but it is slightly big to be carried in the backpack comfortably and in saddle bag it would break in case of a fall.

OMG! I've never seen so much fuss being made about a torch!
There are many on the market that allow change of focus by rotating the head. An original Maglite will cost a bomb; a nice Chinese replica will be available for a song! ... er.. YS, can you sing?!

.... and, YS, which are these DARK corners of Himachal that you plan to visit?!
