Gorillapods
If you want a camera mount on your bike and wouldnt want to sacrifice your rear view mirror this is the best option you guys have.

presenting the gorilla pods. They are available for SLRs and camcorders and smaller ones are available for P&S cameras.

had bought a big one for my SLR and one for fellow BCMTian pulsar rider.

Gorillapods have flexible arms and yu can wrap this arms around a tree or you bike handle.

Cameras can be handled upside down once you secure the tripod screw.

Gorillapods can handle small camcorders. So you want to shoot another just touched the sky you dont have to ride down from k-top holding the bike with just one hand or even if you want to keep the camcorder running to shoot the next 'juourney to top of the world' this is something yu would want to have..

MY SLR gorilla pod

flexible arms

P&S gorilla pod vs SLR one

P&S gorilla pod can support camera weight of upto 250 gms and SLR one can handle 3 pounds which should be good enuf for 400 D+18-55 mm lens

Re: Gorillapods
where to obtain it and whats the damage done.

Found SLR pod to be hard to find in stores in US.P&S version is readily available.
Found the SLR pod at walmart finally...

prices:

walmart:
17.99 $ for SLR pod
9.99 $ for P&S pod

best buy stores in US:

20 $ for P&S gorillapod
SLR pod not seen anywhere in best buy

so walmart it is

Re: Gorillapods
But are sticky enough to stick to the handle bar? Last thing one would want is their camera falling.

Re: Gorillapods
You dont have to stick the pods anywhere. You just have to coil all three legs around handle.Coil each one like a snake.Legs are very very flexible and could be coiled around anything.Three coiled legs would give it more or less stable grip(Click on joby link to see coiling business in pics)

would take out the bike in few more days and click pics with gorillapod mounted on it.Im unsure if the handlebar is the best place.

Re: Gorillapods
have seen this in flesh and working, and the thing does its job just perfectly. Did not try to mount it on a moving bike, but was strong enough to hold the cam upside down hanging on the ceiling fan.

Re: Gorillapods
I also have a Gorillapod SLR zoom.
Never got a change to use it though, since I always use the larger tripod.
Its great for handlebar cam pics for bikers though
