MRF Nylogrip Zapper Y 100/90 x 18 tyre review

MRF Nylogrip Zapper Y 100/90 x 18 is city tyre and comes as stock the stock tyre on quite a few motorcycles, including the earlier 18” versions of Pulsars and Karizma.

It has a decent tarmac grip, however in the starting the grip is a bit bad, but it gradually improves after 4000-5000 kms.

Straight line stability is good in dry and as long as there is no gravel on road, however in case of gravel or wet condition, the tyre looses grip quite easily. Cornering capability of this tire is also quite good, as long as the tarmac is good and warm and there is no gravel or water.

Overall Nylogrip Zapper Y is a decent choice as long as you are commuting in the city and don’t ride aggressively, especially considering the fact that the tyre is light, has a good life (used it for over 20k and could have used it more) and isn’t quite prone to punctures.

Ditto

For dry tarmac on city roads like Delhi its a OK tyre but when it comes to gravel/wet its useless.

Had some scary moments in city on wet surfaces with the tyre moving around and also at tarmacs with a hint of fine dust/gravel in Himalayas.

Sold it to get Vee Rubber which is much better for tarmac.

@PKM: Thats the Zapper Q they swear by not the Zapper Y!

@Popsha: P220 comes with a stock Zapper C, just like the P180 and 200!

This tire comes as a stock rear tire for ZMA-R, Unicorn CBZX and Hunk! No central grooving means you are risking a lot when it rains (in city or otherwise) or when there is any sign of gravel. Overall, this is a pretty poor tire IMO, definitely not recommendable and pretty unsafe as well.

Cheers,
Shamik

Same difference... all Zappers are just OK tyres in grip and superb in life (can easily last 30000Kms).

Mucho recommended for people who drive straight lines in dry city tarmac and want long lasting tyres.

Yup, in fact the compound of almost all the Indian manufactured tyres is bad as they are made more for life than grip.
