Checkout the gear from AlpineStar and Spidi ... one of the finest in riding gears.

One suggestion, get mesh jacket. rest will be too hot to be used on a regular basis in India.

Shoes. Everything else can be bought later.

Never shoes. For our stuff, ankle length walking boots from Woodland are good enough. I personally use Karrimor KSB's boots, but they are f*cking heavy. Good mesh jacket+gloves is important.

Quite true, once off the motorcycle trekking shoes make more sense. Especially if they are strong and ankle high.

I am back
Hi Guys,
I am back from the US after 9 weeks. Thanks for all the advice. I bought myself a genuine HD leather jacket+gloves. I also bought a Canon Rebel Xti(EOS 400D)+18-55mm lens+75-300mm Lens.
The jacket is cool and the camera is great. Glad to have stepped up from my S3IS to SLR.
Cheers
