For your eyes only
I wear spectacles
-1 in left eye, and +2.5 cylindrical with 140 axis in right(Right eye fiasco is a result of childhood injury).
Long time back I used to wear a contact in left eye, and in daytime I could wear sunglasses(ray ban aviator was my fav).
Soon due to dust issues etc., and moreover doc told me not a good idea to neglect the right eye, I started wearing glasses.
Now this meant glasses in harsh sunlight too.
Of course the answer was photochromatic, but after trying out a pair, I did not like them much.
So it was black to plain sunglasses, while my aviators wasted away.
Finally wife suggested a trip to GKB opticals, where I had gotten my normal glasses, and change ray bans with prescription lenses.
After looking at lots of options, we zeroed in on polarized lenses, same shade as my ray ban, cost 2750. For me the cost was on higher side because of the right eye number.
Got them just before jaisalmer trip, and boy what a revelation.
Everything seems clearer.
Infact I could tilt my head and make out how much of the road reflection glare in the afternoon sun the sunglasses blanked out!
Drove 900kms in bright desert sun, and no issues!
Earlier even 4-5 hour sunny drive would mean tired eyes and headache due to glare from the sun. Even anti glare coating falls short.
Only downside is clicking pictures. My cam has a polarizer on, and with polarized sunglasses the viewfinder shows funny colors.
Other than that, while driving, fatigue has come down 100%, and vision is better.
No more blinding glare from the road, as polarized glasses cut down reflections from 0-100% depending upon sun position.
If anyone of you wears spectacles and does long drivers, this is one investment I would recommend.
I guess from a smaller shop if you have low number, you can get frame + lenses for around 1500-1800rs!
