Delhi - Chail
Destination: Chail

Route: Delhi - Karnal - Ambala - Zirakpur crossing - Kalka – Kandaghat (take a right from the roundabout) – Chail

Distance: 380kms

Type of destination: weekend getaway (2-3 days)

Description: A nice sleepy town in the heart of Himalayas, even though a lot of tourists come for sightseeing from Shimla only a few spend the night, making it less crowded and more beautiful then Shimla.

Places to visit: Highest cricket ground in the world, Sidh Baba Ka Mandir, Wildlife sanctuary and one can also visit Kufri, Sadhupul picnic spot (14kms after you take diversion from Kandaghat, it is under a bridge by a small stream)

Tips: Route from Delhi to Ambala is through 4 lane NH-1, after which you have to ride/drive on the single lane NH-22. Roads are mostly good and the petrol is easily available, though it is recommended to tank up before taking the turn from Kandaghat (if you have less than 100kms worth of petrol remaining).

While coming back if you have time to spare than I will recommend the following route:

Chail - Kufri - Shimla - Kalka - Zirakpur crossing - Ambala - Karnal – Delhi

Kali ka Tibba is also nearby (Just 4-5 kms) & a must visit if you go to Chail.

One more pics of Kali temple. Interestingly the priest there is a teacher of Information Technology at military school near Cricket Ground.

Also the view from the top is superb, we spent almost 2 hrs sitting there and enjoying the cool breeze. You can literally feel above clouds.

.

Its on the village side of Chail, I do not remember the exact route, but it goes by the side of Gurudwara.

And 1 km of pure kacha road incline with no tar. Car goes there without any problem. I took my Indica there up to the top.

To some length it is the same route... Actually it is in same direction from Chail as that of cricket ground.

Re: Delhi - Chail
Then it is very likely the same hill. There are two routes up. The one that starts at the bazaar is a thrill - very steep. Many cars/drivers cannot make it up that incline and come (dangerously) rolling back! The other route is more gentle and offers some scenic views.
