Day - 1 (19-09-2009)
Ajmer to Kurushektra I was wake early for my dreams comes true but due to habit of office time.. I started riding at 9.30 AM Approx 2 PM we crossed the Behror and choose the road from Shahjahanpur to Rohtak via Jhajjar for time saving and delhi traffic jam problem... but.... sorry to tell you National Highway No. 71 was in condition of very bad due to rainfall and this way take our much time to cross it and at evening we reached at Panipat and thanks god now we got the GT Road ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() after that stayed at Kurushektra in Dharamshala for night halt. Day-2 (20-09-2009) Kurushektra Kurukshetra is probably the most famous religious site in India and one of the most ancient places of pilgrimage in the world. The name of Kurukshetra derives from a tribe, Kuru. By the evidence of its name and its archaeological remains there can be no doubts that Kurukshetra was occupied by the Aryans. The city is said to be as old as the Rigveda, and was also caqlled Saryanvat. Kurukshetra has been delcared as the land of Dharma or righteousness in the very first shloka of Srimadbhagwad Gita This place is famous for Geeta, Krishna, Pandava, Mahabharat and other holy reasons so little bit we visited this place... Brahma Sarovar first we bathed at Brahma Sarovar which is holy sarovar due to Lord Brahma and something about sarovar is : According to Hindu myth, Lord Brahma created the universe from the land of Kurukshetra after a huge yajna. The Brahma Sarovar here is believed to be the cradle of civilisation. The sarovar is also mentioned in the eleventh century AD memoirs of Al Beruni, called ‘Kitab-ul-Hind’. A sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva stands within the sarovar, accessible by a small bridge. According to scriptures, bathing in this sarovar increases the sanctity of performing the ‘ashvamedh yajna’. Today Brahma Sarovar has been renovated. It is 1800 feet long and 1400 feet broad. ![]() ![]() after bathed we visited Birla Gita Temple Lord Krishna is the main deity of the temple. The main hall has portraits of Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh, Saint Ravidas, Guru Tegh Bahadur, Veda Vyasa and Tulsidas along with their preaching. This garden also has a large marble chariot drawn by four horses. It contains the sitting idols of Lord Krishna and Arjuna. A stanza from each of the 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita is inscribed on all sides of the chariot. ![]() There is an interesting story behind the temple site. A Titu bird had laid eggs in the battle field of Mahabharat. The bird was concerned about the security of her children due to the movements of the elephants. She prayed to the God and a bell broke from the neck of an elephant and fell over the nest. This bell protected the nest during the 18 day war. A white marble Gaj Ghanta (elephant's bell) located in the temple garden commemorates this legend. ![]() Then went to Chandigarh for meeting of friends and servicing of bike at Bajaj Probike Service centre... reached at Panchkula Osho Harmony center at 4 PM for stay and night halt... |
