@Rupinder
Probably our habit of not getting up early helped us to get the early morning pics of Pangong Tso... @reply2ab Congrats on your achievement too guys...... You were too lucky to find such a clear weather at Marsimik La.... One of my friends could not complete Marsimik La because of snow just 15 days before we could do it..... It was snowing so much that ITBP trucks were caught up in the slush ahead of them..... So they had to abandon and come back, some 4-5 km before the M Top.....

As far as I know, civilians are not allowed beyond M La....
There are Hot Springs, the road to which passes through M La.... As per the information I have: (Courtesy: Overdrive 9th Anniversary Issue, Sept 2007) There is a war memorial near the hot springs, which was built in memory of a company of ITBP personnel who lost their lives during an assault from Chinese armed forces while they were patrolling near the Hot Springs. I don't remember the year though. It's supposed to be a Pilgrimage place for each policeman. Overdrive team got special permits, for their anniversary issue, to go up to Hot Springs, but they could not because of lack of time. Last edited by yogiraj; 16-09-08 at 11:26 PM. |

So is there a check post at Marsimik La which disallows you to go beyond the pass?

Amazing travelogue & awesome pics - it was worth waiting for!
Really loved the sunrise pics of Pangong Tso, a real first! Very lucky that Satish came out of the accident without any major injuries, could have been far worse. God was riding with him I guess.
