@YogeshSarkar: I was trying to post a table (of distance chart - made in excel) but though it pastes as a table, as soon as I click save, it converts it into unformatted text. Let me know how I can post a table.
@tmookheree: Bhaisahab, will you please post some pics too! Thanks to out lazy start in the morning, we were running behind schedule and time was not in our favor. It was the road where speeds do not matter, short distances are covered as clocks ticks past your estimated times over and over and you have to think – should I see the beautiful vistas or the best line through that muddy section? Should I take a break and click pictures or just keep riding as destination is still far? With this dilemma, we kept the pace pretty consistent riding hard and paving our way through. My Pulsar 220 DTSi was serving it purpose of an off roader now. I was scared because of softer compound rear tyre which was not designed to take this kind roads. However with the amazing torque on my tap, I would get out of mud section without having to put my feet own. Kept riding and suddenly I turn and see beautiful snow clad mountains in front of the meadow and it all feels worth it. I just checked my phone as listening to its ring was last on my mind for past 2 hours. I see an sms from my friend – ‘Had a fall, foot rest broken, waiting’. I call him and he says he is fine just that he does not want to push the bike to its limits. “Are you sure you don’t want to do this?” “I am coming, wait for me”. Sometimes all you need is a little reminder that you are here for a purpose. I see him riding through the road and seeing the vistas he is glad he made it. The beautiful vistas start about 4 kms before chansal and the road also gets a little more rideable. This is the spot which took my breath away. This is where I got a call from tmookherjee about the broken footrest. I am glad that he still made it. ![]() Bole to, Road to Chansal ![]() Bole to Part 2 ![]() I guess thats the Chansal Peak (as if you know)! This peak makes Chansal a great destination and mountain for skiing. A German company is planning to built a Ski Resort.

Till then I'll post some mobile captures. People: excuses for poor quality. The first picture being from our first legitimate stop at Zilmil Dhaba in Karnal on the way. Second pic is from the PWD rest house at Kothkhai, while the next three are a sequence from the kind of terrain one frequently encounters on the way to Chanshal.

Thanks! Yes, that is the best view point through the entire route. I suggest we plan trekking and camping to Chansal sometime. It would be awesome! We were missing not having tents when we reached Chansal Top. Would love to spend a night there.
@tmookherji: Thanks for posting. I am posting my pics only as of now. So go ahead and post yours.

Yeah Tanmoy was fine. It was a fall at almost NIL speed. THe footrest hit a rock and it broke (footrest, not the rock). Got it fixed the next day at Rohru. In fact we tried to call you on way to Rohru to get an idea about the time required etc. Your phone was unreachable. I guess you were in himalayas somewhere!

We wanted to proceed to Dodra Kwar, but by the time we made it to the top it was almost evening and had to descend in pitch darkness.
The fall was minor, but the loss of the footrest was a big blow. The problem being there wasn't really a place where I could bank my foot, and this was on the side of the gears! There is a small plate-type cover on the side of the gears, so I tried to put my foot above it, but each time I'd hit a rock, my foot would be dislodged and I'd accidentally hit the gear which would usually shift up! That was frustrating. But I virtually made it on one foot
