It is not a long journey like those I had in my earlier days. just 20 KMs one way.
Thirumayam This historic place is 20 KMs away from Pudukkottai District (you may want to know where this district is!!! 1 hr drive from Tiruchirappalli). This place has a remains of fort, which was built in a large area in British Period. This was built by Sethupathi Maharaja of Ramnad! In addition it has two beautiful.. marvellous temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Vishnu temple is rock-cut temple, which is bigger and older than Srirangam Temple at Tiruchirappalli. This is one of the places was sung by Alwars! My trip started around 4:00 in the evening. I just give my Glady a warm up since it had taken good amount of rest I dint travel in this route after it had been taken by NHAI and extended beautifully after that! So, this was one nice exercise this sunday! But major pends and dangerous curves are still there. I feel the road is too small for the traffic it experiences! ![]() I got my GPS phone in my petrol tank and fixed it firmly to track the route.. Alas, I need to apply for a strong break for a crossing cow No more GPS.. kept the phone in pocket and throttled to reach the place in another few minutes. ![]() I roam around the streets of Thirumayam to meet one of my good olden friend. Had a strong tea with him. ![]() I could see a state-level volleyball competition was in the full swing! I went to the shrines of Shiva and Vishnu. Need to mention, both of them splendid examples of sculptures and architectures. I dint take any photo since the temple guru is not happy with photographs. I am not interested to make him unhappy.. ![]() Return journey is also good with 60 to 80 on the speedo! I felt very much like this area is accident prone. alas, I saw a huge mob on the road, I came to know that a speedy car hit a cyclist. ![]() Had a nice trip. It is a good place to see. Forgotten by many people! even my localites. |
