Day 3: Khajuraho, Eastern Group of Temples

After visiting the Southern Group of Temples, I headed back to old Khajuraho, to visit the remaining Eastern Group of Temples (it consists of Jain Temples and the three listed below).

After riding through narrow lanes barely wide enough for a motorcycle (didn’t take the main road), I came across the Brahma Temple, which is actually dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Just as I was about to get in to the position to capture a photograph of the Brahma Temple, I got a chance to capture the past, present and the future of Khajuraho.

After that it was time to capture another photograph of the Brahma Temple and move on, since it was in somewhat of disarray and sanctum was closed for the public.

Next up was the Vamana Temple, which is dedicated to the dwarf incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

After visiting Vamana Temple, I backtracked a bit and visited Javari Temple, which once again is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Sadly the head of the statue in its Sanctum sanctorum is missing.

Although these temples are situated towards the end of old Khajuraho Village, they have some nice scenic views as well, thanks to the green cover on two sides.

It was around 2:30pm, once I got done with photography and was beginning to feel hungry. Asked for directions from the nice guard at the Javari Temple and headed back to my hotel. After dumping all my photography gear, it was time to head to ground floor restaurant for lunch, after which I had some time to relax, before I would go out again, to watch the sound and light show at the Western Group of Temples.
