Beautiful pics..and narration too..

One unsolicited suggestion..It would be better to take Brufen/Combiflam/Voveran for pain than taking Disprin (esp when u take repetitively..the former would be relatively less harmful)

Thanks, I was carrying Brufen, but I almost never take that. I prefer to take disprin as it does not cause drowsiness and isn't that strong.

You had your itinerary, and the national highways help with that, but I can see that MP is another area where you could just go off the main roads and ride around, with no destination. And with GPS, you can sort out somewhere to go for the night before it gets too late.

The Jaray Math picture really captures the peacefulness of India, and...

Surprisingly, not only was I getting full network on my mobile phones, but even the GPRS was working properly and as fast as ever! It is at moments like this, when I wonder, is everything as much wrong with India, as we city dwellers, make it out to be?
No! It's not! ...and the country people generally have quite a different perspective.

Tooo good - the perfect kind of ride. Even the puncture, you were prepared with a new tube, and you got a bit of exercise. At least it wasn't 45 degrees heat.

Nice pics Yogesh.

The weather looks so warm over there and I wish I was there on my bike. The temperature in Inverness is down to -10c and in Aviemore it has been down to -19c ! I can't even think about motorcycles in such weather.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your travelogue.

You and I think alike, that is what I was thinking of doing as well. Though with no GPS and little knowledge of the area, I was a bit hesitant, so proceeded to Khajuraho.

I guess so, though a lot does need to be done. However it feels good to see, that we are at least headed in the right direction.

Thanks, but I think I could have done without dragging my bike for distance and then trying to find tube in Gwalior. But all is well that ends well, so no complaints.

Thanks Scott, would love to feel that kind of weather someday. So far I have only felt -4 degrees, though in wet cloths. But yes the weather there was good and warm, in fact during the day I was roaming around in my tshirt and full sleeve shirt.

Day 3: Khajuraho, Visvanatha Temple and Nandi Shrine

Thanks to staying awake well past midnight, I couldn’t get up too early in the morning and only managed to leave bed by around 6am.

Got ready as fast as I could and headed for the Western Group of Temples. After purchasing ticket (Indians Rs.10, foreigners Rs.250), it was time to start photographing and exploring the temple. Sadly the audio guide wasn’t yet available, so decided to hire it at a later stage.

Since there are numerous photographs I want to share, I will be posting photographs of few temples each time, to ensure page doesn’t takes forever to load and I am able to at least do some justice to the wonderful architecture of Khajuraho.

First up was this temple, closed and fairly simple, surprisingly with no sign boards in front of it and no information in the guide books either! So in case someone knows what it is called, please do let me know.

After this I headed straight for the Visvanatha Temple and Nandi Shrine, whom I had photographed last night from the rooftop restaurant and now wanted to photograph up close.

An elephant statue, outside Visvanatha Temple.

Nandi Shrine at the Visvanatha Temple complex. It houses a 2.2 meters long and 1.8 meters high statue of Nandi and faces the Visvanatha Temple.

Visvanatha Temple was built in 1002 by the Chandella King, Dhanga. Visvanatha Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and is similar in construction to the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, though has fewer sikharas.

Inscriptions in ancient language, carved on stone at the entrance of inner sanctum of Visvanatha Temple

Numerous statues on the outside of Visvanatha Temple, these not only contain statues of Gods and Goddesses, but also of Sura-Sundaris (heavenly nymphs), mythical creatures and also of couples in erotic poses.
