Yogesh bhai, I have seen many photographs of Kajuraho but your captures of Kandariya Mahadeva and it's sikharas blew me away. You have showcased the immaculate lace stonework of these magnificent temples in a grand way and succeeded in wooing many tourers here in making this place a prime destination...bravo!

Thanks Roxxi, though do stick around. I got slightly better shots (couple) of Kandariya Mahadeva temple the next day.

Day 3: Khajuraho, Jagadambi and Chitragupta Temples

Jagadambi Temple is located on the same platform as Kandariya Mahadeva Temple and is similar in architecture to Chitragupta Temple.

Jagadambi Temple is dedicated to Parvati, though it is believed to have been originally built for Lord Vishnu, due to prominence given to Vishnu on its doorway.

It is also the only temple I saw in Khajuraho, which had a havan kund (sacred structure for lighting fires for yagnas).

Although the sanctum sanctorum of Jagadambi Temple is locked, I managed to sneak in this photograph of goddess Parvati, through the metal door.

Statues on the door of Jagadambi Temple

Jagadambi Temple is being restored by the ASI and hence I could manage only a handful photographs of the temple from the outside and they didn’t really come out that well. Plus number of tourists was growing by the moment and so was the harshness in the sunlight.

So I decided to head to the Chitragupta Temple, the only temple in Khajuraho, dedicated to the Sun God.

After I was done with photographing Chitragupta Temple, sun light had become too harsh and I was starting to get hungry. Surprisingly, it was at this time, that quite a few people with DSLRs and even bigger lenses started flowing in!

Any ways, I headed straight for the Raja Café and ordered breakfast, consisting of couple of aloo paranthas. It had been a little over three and a half hours, since I first started photographing the Western Group of Temples and somehow, wasn’t yet content! Decided to visit it again tomorrow, if I get the chance and headed back to my hotel room.

Hey Yogesh! Just read through the log...awesome! I like that you give ample time in getting to know the place. Your blog is reminding me of my trip to Khajuraho & Orchha a few years ago.
