Default Mount. Abu...

Route:

Going : Surendranagar - Ahmedabad - Mehsana - Himmatnagar - Idar -Khedbrahma - Ambaji - Mt. Abu (235 kms)

Return: Mt. Abu - Palanpur - Sidhpur - Kalol - Ahmedabad - Surendranagar (250 kms)

This trip happened last december... I had received a 2N/3D package at some hotel in Mt. abu. on purchase of an ac. Timing was great december. Mt. Abu at times have reached sub-zero temperatures in december. Moreover this is the only place in western india where vacation in schools are in december for rest of the western india, vacations are in summer.

I was willing to go there but problem was no one was ready to come with me and drinking alone is not my style. What I enjoy about drinking alcohol is that after couple of pegs of whisky one feels great and becomes highly sentimental. But finally I found a friend who was ready to come with me as he loved to have booze but couldn't have it in s'nagar.

We made the reservations and finally started the trip on my friend's P150. No one at home knew about it as riding to abu in december was surely gonna be a strict no no. We started early morning on saturday at 08:00 reached ahmedabad at 10:15 (yeah it was non stop, as we had miles to go before we sleep/drink) Had breakfast there and continued ride towards Mt. Abu. Took another stop at Mehsana then at Himmatnagar and finally reached khedbrahma. Went to Vishwakarmaji's temple had lunch there and again started towards mt. abu at 15:00.

We reached ambaji, went for darshan at famous amba mata temple, we were initially willing to climb gabber but already we were feeling cold and hence cancelled it and started final leg and best part of our trip. Abu Road is about 20 kms from ambaji and Mt. Abu is about 28 kms from Abu Road. But entire road from ambaji is full of curves and climbs. It was really fun to climb these roads.

Finally we reached Mt. Abu at 19:00 checked in to the hotel and went to nakki lake for a glimpse. Nakki Lake was covered with fog/smoke/cloud and the feeling was great. Then we went to Liquor shop got a whisky and went to the hotel. Enjoyed about 60% of the bottle between us and then went for dinner. Both of us were very hungry and ate like anything. Came back to the hotel and slept. Night in Mt. Abu was horrible we had to ask for extra blankets. Both of us were under 2 blankets and a chadder but still were feeling cold but whisky saved us and night passed by. Initially we were planning to depart early but
due to last night's nightmare we changed plans and started at 09:00 only.

On the return we decided to come throug different route as mentioned above with breaks at each of the mentioned towns/cities. Return trip was worst of its kind with 2 punctures on highway. We had to remove the wheel and get lift from the passerby, get it punctured at nearyby towns, come back and fix the wheel - both the times. About 1hr 45 mins were spoiled due to this. But then we started ripping instead of crusing and finally reached surendranagar at 20:00 hrs.

Trip was most memorable as we had very less expense (Rs. 425/- per head), had our favourite items (liquor, bikes and spicy food).

Sorry no pics here as We just wanted to have booze and didn't want to get clicked in that condition.
