Bajaj Pulsar 180 vs Bajaj Pulsar 180…

Yes that’s right the nearest competitor to a Bajaj Pulsar 180 is Bajaj Pulsar 180 itself! You might be wondering why I am saying this, well facts speak for themselves. At present there is no other motorcycle available in the category of Bajaj Pulsar 180 and the 180 has had almost no competition since it was launched five years back, it might have tried to compete with Karizma in the days of 180 DTSI v1 (first upgrade) but with the advent of 180DTSI v2 (upgrade two) and then with the launch of 180DTSI v2.1 and 180DTSI v3, Bajaj clearly showed that it had no intention of pitting a 178.6cc bike against a 223cc one.

However this hasn’t stopped Bajaj from upgrading the 180 on a regular basis and it has become a yearly cycle now. In fact Bajaj is the only motorcycle manufacturer who follows this practice in India and Pulsar 180 is the only motorcycle that receives this treatment. By doing so Bajaj is following the international trend of updating the motorcycle every year with work done on not only on the looks, but also on aspects like handling, drivability, performance, efficiency and refinement.

While some might say that other manufactures don’t need to upgrade models every year because their motorcycles are perfect, but the fact is no motorcycle in this world is perfect, let alone an Indian motorcycle. Still Bajaj is the only manufactures to realize this and use it to generate sales and also keep people interested in its products. So much so that Pulsars are only a step away from becoming a cult motorcycle and the day Bajaj decides to take that step, we will have another name in the list of cult motorcycles with the likes of Yamaha RD 350, Yamaha Rx 100 and Bullets…

  1. I remember frequent updates of a model was started with Boxer first. And after Boxer’s success Bajaj has made this a habit. A really good habit…
