Cricket helmets to protect bikers head!
Well some people in Delhi seem to think so, after all a helmet which is the exact replica of a helmet which protects the head and face of our nations great cricketing heroes should be good enough to protect a riders head and face in the event of accident.
One look at what riders in Delhi wear to comply with the compulsory helmet law, it seems more like a mockery of the law than anything else. And the saddest part is; it works!
That’s right it works, no wonder after wearing helmets became compulsory in Delhi, there has been a spur in the number of roadside helmet shops selling not only sub standard helmets, also plastic caps that look like construction helmets! And one can see a number of people buying these Rs.50-100 helmets and to make matters worse, one can even see cops buying these helmets!
Even though helmet law clearly states that one has to wear an ISI approved helmet, it seems most people and authorities have conveniently decided to forget about this clause. It seems the authorities have a message for all those who decide to go for these sub-standard helmets; if you wear these kind of helmets and die in a crash because of it, we hardly care!
