The DO factor.

I am writing in Sitting Idle after ages, pardon my absence, if you may! There is some interesting observation that I wanted to share regarding motorcycle touring. Its about drawing the line between when you ride out to places in order to visit and absord the place in its beauty and cultural variance & when you simply “do” a place! I hear countless chest-thumps these days from motorcycle riders who say, “I did Ladakh” or “I want to do Spiti”, look closely and you will see the duration of these kind of trips usually lasts from 5-7 days at a maximum. A land which as beautiful and full of variety as Ladakh cannot be enjoyed in a span of 7 days, no matter what anybody claims, same holds true for Spiti valley! I donot expect people who “enjoy” travelling to places on their motorcycles to go to places and put a tick against a “been to” list in their diaries and come back in 5-7 days flat! I find no difference between these people with the ones who “do” stunts on public roads, after all our esteemed friends are “doing” Ladakh and Spiti…
