10 Punctures due to Glass

Hi, Guys last week i came to know that my bike HH Hunk rear tyre was puncture. I visited a local tyre shop and asked him to quickly look in to matter.

A little bit of background , in the month of Feb 2016 I have changed my Hunk with tube tyre with Tubeless one. For the rear, i choose the MRF Tubeless tyre with special block design to enhance the road grip, it cost me somewhere around 2600.
This is the pic of the tyre. Image credit to bhp forum.

Now the grip is fantastic. For the front i choose the Ceat tubeless tyre for which i paid 1800.

In the month of April, in the last week i transported my bike from Nagpur to Pune, with the help of Movers and packers. Thank god the bike was delivered safe.

The real problem started after 15 days or so, the rear tyre started to lose air rapidly, there was a time i have to fill and check air in every 7 days. I got the tyre check and found 1 puncture, it was a small nail like thing which was the culprit.

Then later last week same thin happened the tyre was losing air and now it was having far to less air in it. The air pressure was some where around 25 which should in the range of 35-40. So now the mechanic was checking the puncture and found that there are 10 puncture which have occurred due to glass. There were close to 10 glass particles. He removed them all and did dry puncture, inserted some sort of rubber at 10 places.

Now the air pressure is not dropping but still i am worried why did such thing happened. I have to pay 1000 rupees for 10 punctures. and I don't want such thing to happen again.
Moreover the tyre is pretty new is there a need to change the tyre again?

Have anyone gone through the same situation?

Was the tyre tested in a tubful of water in your presence? Did you see air leaking out from ten spots?
Yes sir, i was present there through the complete process and was actually shocked.

Wow! This is probably a record of sorts!
Never seen anything like this.
But frankly, I would have gone for a new tyre for 2600 rather than spending a thousand getting those punctures fixed.
You see how you still have no peace of mind? That thousand was wasted.

I'f afraid looks like you've been taken for a ride. The 'puncture scam ' in Pune has been making good money since long now. Its always advisable to get your punctures repaired at reputed tyre shops against roadside shops (even shops at some petrol pumps are very much involved in these acts).
Its questionable how a brand new tyre could get 10 punctures at the same time! (and imagine would you still have any air left in that case).
You cant imagine the creative methods these guys use. Someone in my offfice even caught a roadside tyre repair guy wearing a 'needle- ring' to facilitate these punctures. Another informed how a tyrewalla had pointed nails installed inside his tub where they check these punctures!!

Ajinkya,
This is a scam !
Puncture Scam !
They are making punctures in front of your eyes !
Magic / Haath ki safai !
There were few punctures only,
he made it to 10.
The reason I use tubeless tyre is to get rid of tube expenses of these puncture guy's tube costs.
First 2-3 years, you can have 5-6 punctures in this whole period at max.
More grip can make few more punctures in total.
Now best way to use this tyre is keep a tube with you.
Put it inside when you feel tyre pressure is not lasting long.
Keep 1 spare tube in bike under the seat if possible. This will be cheap option to use tyre for long time of its life. Tube can be purchased at any spare part shop / tyre showroom etc at reasonable cost.

I know what exactly happened that day, I had once seen a puncture dude with ENO in a different container - realized that this may be a reason and this might be the reason for such scams. They will first fill the tyre threads with ENO when you are not looking and then they will put soap solution on the ENO place. Result - bubbles come out of the place ! He will simply wash it and will charge you for the work done.

The above same thing happened with me. I do think i have been cheated and now i want to handover him to police. I want to teach him a lesson.

Sir this puncture wala is just beside Inorbit mall, Viman Nagar, Pune. I really think he has done something odd while repairing the tyre. Still at an odd time of 10:30 PM, that person and shop were the only thing which would help me.

Sir thanks a lot for sharing this link. I am feeling embarrassed now, that someone took me for a ride.

Pajji, i am quiet serious now and I want to teach him a lesson. I want to catch him red handed, or something else. I am looking forward to buy a new tyre.
