I am planning Leh Ladakh 10-15 days holidays starting 26 May from Gurgaon by self driving my car with my family ( Myself, wife , 2 kids 7 yrs & 18 yrs )
I have roughly made my itinerary searching Google-

    Day1 -Gurgaon to Patnitop
    Day2-Patnitop to Sonmarg or Drass
    Day3-Sonmarg/Drass to Leh
    Day4-Leh to Khardungla -Diskit-Nubra Valley-Turtuk village( Where should I stay ?)
    Day5- Hunder to Khardungla-Shyok-Pangong
    Or hunder to Leh
Day6 -Pangong lake( Where to stay?)
Day 7-Pangong to Loma to Hanle- TSO Moriri
    Day8-Hanle-Loma-Karzok
    Day9-Karzok -Upshi-Pang-Sarchu via TSO Kar
    Stay at Pang/Sarchu
    Day 10-Sarchu to Manali
    Day 11- Manali to Gurgaon

    Kindly suggest and advise.

That is a fairly ambitious plan and you will be on the road at least 8-14 hours each day! Are you sure you want to do that with kids on board (don’t fall for Google driving time, it is far too optimistic)?

You need inner line permit to visit Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri etc. Inner Line Permit.

There are no fuel pumps beyond Diskit, so if you’re planning to cover all those places, then you will need enough fuel for 840 km. Fuel availability in Ladakh and Zanskar

Yogesh Ji Thankyou very much for your reply.
I will be very thankful if you help me in changing my itinerary in comfort/ holiday mode.

I am sharing my plan once again with some modification. I am happy to modify it as per your guidance-

    Day1 -Gurgaon to Patnitop
    Day2-Patnitop to Sonmarg or Drass
    Day3-Sonmarg/Drass to Leh
    Day4-Leh
Day5-Leh to Khardungla -Diskit-Nubra Valley-Turtuk village( Where should I stay ?-Turtuk or Hunder)
    Day6- Hunder to Khardungla-Agam-Shyok-Pangong Tso
Day 7-Pangong to Loma to Hanle
    Day8-Hanle-Loma-Karzok -Tso Moriri
    Day9-Karzok -Pang-Sarchu via TSO Kar
    Stay at Pang/Sarchu
    Day 10-Sarchu to Manali
    Day 11- Manali to Gurgaon
    My questions are-
1.Is going from Srinagar is safe?
2.After Patnitop where I should stay ?I want to complete Patnitop to Leh by only one night stay in between .
    3.is Turtuk village stay possible?
4.where to stay at Pangong Tso?
5.Pangong Loma Hanle permit available? Is this route possible by 2 wheel drive car. I have Jeep Compass.
Will I need oxygen cylinders ?
6.Is Karzok to Pang via Tso Kar route okay?

Please favour me by quick reply as I want to start my journey on 26th May.

Skip Turtuk since you don't have enough time for it. Visit Sumur and Panamik first and then head to Diskit and Hinder.

Srinagar is safe as long as there aren't any protests taking place. If there are, then make sure to not push your luck and cross the trouble areas early in the morning.

Sonamarg would be a good bet, make sure to start early from there.

Hanle permit had been temporarily suspended, I will try and check for the update. Else you can always do Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri via Chushul, since that route is open.

At Pangong Tso stay at Spangmik Village, Man and Merak are quieter, but the road is bad and it is best to avoid tackling that in the evening.

Go through our Ladakh AMS Survival Guide, there is no necessity of ocygox cylinder but it is a good bet to have.

Tso Moriri to Tso Kar is in bad condition but doable even in hatchbacks.

Yogeshji, Thankyou very much for your guidance.

You have suggested ''''Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri via Chushul, since that route is open.'''' I am also very much interested in this route.
    But
    1. What should be the route i.e.It will be from Chushul to Chagga La Loma to Tso Moriri
    or
Chushul to Tso Moriri via Kakasang La
Also someone have put on internet that """CHUSHUL ROUTE IS OFF LIMITS CAN NOT GET PERMIT FOR CHUSHUL THIS YEAR"" Is this true. Kindly guide.

The normal route is Tsaga/Chagga La Loma Tso moriri.
The other one is broken track and off beat, desolate.

Permit are being issued for Chushul.

Like Gaurav said, the other route is off-beat. You can attempt it if you want, but permit isn't issued for it. So you will be doing it at your own risk.

    Yogesh Ji ,
A lot of people are suggesting not to travel from Srinagar .
As I already explained that I am travelling on 26th May from Gurgaon to Leh via Srinagar .
Is it a safe route on my personal Haryana registration number?
