Hi Yogesh, i and my 7 other friends have planed our road trip to leh from manali. We will be starting from manali on 5th of june this year. I have been following this thread and got to know that manali leh highway openings may delay due to heavy snow fall this year. Can we still expect the roads to open before 5th june. We cannot postpone our trip further. Pleqse advise.
It should be open, but it will likely be in a bad condition. Better option would be to go via Srinagar and come back via Manali.

Hi,

can you please tell me will it be possible to do LEH-MANALI on 25/26th may.

Regards,
Vishal
It depends on the weather. Though it would be in terrible condition, even if it is open.

Rohtang Pass Permit
Vehicles from outside Himachal Pradesh need a permit from the SDM Office in Manali or Green Tax Barrier at Gulaba, in order to cross Rohtang Pass. You can also arrange this permit through your hotel or a travel agent in Manali.
.
Yogesh G, Is it really matters to collect the Rohtang Pass Permit from Manali ? 'coz we're planning for Leh trip in Bullet this July 3rd.{All the vehicles are Delhi Registration}. What if we don't get suffice time to collect Permit from Manali...? Please suggest Us. Thanks

We're planning a road trip to leh from manali from 17th June. Will the road be open and in good condition by then?
We have already booked our flight tickets. Is there a possibility that it won't open by then?
Please help us regarding this.
We will be traveling in SUVs.

Road would be open, unless extreme weather causes disruption temporarily. However roads won't be in their best condition, especially at Baralacha La, due to snow and water crossings.

So we should go ahead with our plan? Bad road condition is not an issue for us, the only concern is the opening of the route since the snow clearing operation has been delayed this year.

A bridge has collapsed in Muling, which falls between Sissu and Tandi Villages on the Manali - Leh Highway. The bridge is question was inaugurated just 5 months ago and while an inquiry has been ordered into its collapse, it remains to be seen how this bridge collapse would impact the traffic on Manali - Leh Highway, since there is no way to rebuild it before the route reopens.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday ordered a high-level inquiry into the collapse of a crucial bridge in the Lahaul Valley, located on the strategically important Manali-Leh highway, within five months of its inauguration.

Replying to a calling attention motion by Congress member Ravi Thakur, the chief minister informed the assembly that a chief engineer of the public works department has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the collapse of the bridge in Mooling, around 13 km from district headquarters Keylong.

"Disciplinary action would be initiated against the officials or the contractor, if they are found guilty. Efforts will be made to reconstruct it on priority," he said.

The chief minister said the public works department secretary would also visit the spot to review the situation. The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs.4.5 crore.
