Discussion in 'Road Status' started by Yogesh Sarkar, Jan 29, 2018.
visiting leh from 26Aug to 1 Spt..
Hows wether at this time? and what is road status now?
Till Zoji La you will find rain, since the monsoon season lasts till end of August and post monsoon showers usually lasting till first week of September. Road is good barring few kilometers on both sides of Zoji La and if it rains, it can become even worse.
Thank you Yogesh. We are visiting only Leh - Nubra - Pangong.
So looks like we don't have to face rain.. Thanks for info brother... now I can plan better
It does rain in Ladakh as well, but not too often. However, rain in Ladakh is mostly dependent on Western Disturbance.
Thank you Yogesh for the information Change of plans on the itinerary. Moved travel dates to 01Sep-16Sep due to weather. Riding alone.
Ascend through Srinagar, descent through Manali.
Any concrete reports on the landslides of 26Aug18.
Kindly suggest place of stay at Srinagar and Kargil which could be away from city where one shouldn't get caught up in protests.
There is a really bad landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar NH and was closed for 2 days and today it all jammed up. So do keep a few buffer days at hand in case the road gets closed during you travel dates.
Can anybody advise if the traffic jam Between Ramban to Banihal is a daily affair.
What could be the best time of the day to avoid the rush hours there
Traffic is on daily, but the road condition is really bad
Jams are common later in the day when traffic from both sides cross each other.
Leave at the vee hours and you won't get much traffic.
Keep a watch on the news tomorrow and see the situation in Srinagar. SC is supposed to decide the fate of 35A and in case it is scrapped, you will have to likely change your plan and go via Manali.
Good to know that SC has deferred the hearing of the case related to Article 35A.
