This year there is 10 ft snow around Sonamarg and around 30 ft snow on the road to Zoji La. Even though the work is in full swing to reopen the highway as soon as possible, BRO has not set any deadlines for the reopening of the road, as of now.

WEATHER UPDATE for 23 Mar 2019, Saturday.
For those travelling to the Himalayas,
another WD approaching.
It is not a very intense WD,
and would clear up very quickly by Sunday late in the day
and then a spell of sunshine.
BUT two days behind this WD another WD is following.

Snow clearing machinery has managed to reach Minimarg check post.

Zoji La has been cleared of snow, though not yet open for civilian traffic.

Looks like the WD approaching just got bigger.
Possibly the last big WD of the season.
So if you missed the snowfall,
now is the time to head to himalayas.
The further you go, the better the chance of snowfall.
For 17 Apr, there are two images,
one is earlier in the day, and one is later in the day.
lot of rainfall so be careful of landslide.
