Weather News !

what we are experiencing right now is this trend of having cool weather in north of India in summers
Winters had much less snowfall but April had good snowfall

New weather system is totally different and a new trend of western disturbance that is making this change is interesting to watch

Please update on status of Srinagar Leh Highway. Are they allowing the two wheeler to cross or the road blocked for all types of vehicular movement? God willing , I would be crossing Zojilla on 18th May 2023.

Srinagar, May 6: Weather department on Saturday forecast widespread moderate rain and thunderstorm over Kashmir division during the next 24 hours.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that there was also possibility of light rain and thunderstorm at “scattered places” over Jammu division during the time.
For subsequent two days, he said, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorm was expected in J&K.
“Rain and thunderstorm is most likely to commence from late afternoon and evening (today) at many places of Kashmir, Zojila-Drass etc. and Jammu region by night,” he said.

From May 7-8, he said, rain and thunderstorm was expected at many places of J&K. “Hailstorm and gusty wind is also possible at scattered places.”
From May 9-12, he said, “mainly dry” weather was expected.
He asked farmers to postpone spraying of orchards and harvesting of crops till May 8th.
The official also urged tourists to keep warm clothes and eatables ready as “weather will be colder till May 8.”

District Police Kargil

Traffic advisory for *SSG (Zojila), Zanskar (Penzila) & Padum-Darcha (Shinkula) roads dated on 7th May 2023 (Sunday):-

1) Kargil- Srinagar (SSG) Road :-
Subject to fair weather and road clearance, One way traffic for all Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) in between 0630hrs to 0730hrs forthwith all Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) of 6/tyres upto 0930hrs shall be allowed from TCP Minamarg towards Sonamarg thereafter No Vehicles shall be allowed towards Zojila axis from TCP Minamarg.

NOTE:-
There shall be no vehicular movements on 12th of May, 2023 (Friday) on Zojila axis from either side (Sonamarg /Minamarg) in view of road maintenance on Zoji La Axis.

2) *Kargil-Zanskar (Penzila) Road*:-
Subject to fair weather and road clearance, One way traffic for all vehicles shall be allowed from TCP Skygam towards Panikhar upto 0900hrs only from TCP Skygam, thereafter No vehicles shall be allowed towards Penzila axis from TCP Skygam (Zkr).

3) *Padum Darcha (Shinkula) Road*:-
Subject to fair Weather and road clearance,one way traffic for all Light Motor Vehicles (Goods/Passengers) with Anti skid chain shall be allowed in between 0500hrs to 0900hrs from TCP Darcha (HP) towards Shinkula axis for Zanskar (Kargil) thereafter No vehicles shall be allowed from TCP Darcha (HP) for Shinkula axis.
