2021 Lahaul, Spiti and Sach Pass Road Status

Oh sandy.....some obstacles some way or the other.......nice to hear it will be cleared soon......i recall the land slide in 2019 aug between killar and udaipur just 3 kms before Tindi ( not Tandi )struck for 50 hrs........had to cancel spiti then............i was coming from sach pass......completing Cliff hanger pass .

Sach Pass is toughest one.
Means You are a Good Rider !

Congratulations on covering Cliff Hanger in 2019.
You are lucky one to do this as it will be buried in History soon.
They are making new easy and wide enough road above it and may be in final stages to open it.
You made History with Memories !

Iternary for 4 days from Chandigarh to kaza via shimla and back.
Mode of transport will be by car Tata Tiago (petrol).

Day 1: Chandigarh to Rampur Bushahar / Sarahan
Day 2: Sarahan to Kaza
Day 3: Kaza to Kalpa / Sarahan (Decide on arrival only)
Day 4: Kalpa / Sarahan to Chandigarh if you start at a reasonable time in morning then you may reach in late evening.

Rest experts can suggest better who have done it in own vehicle.
Avoid Driving in Dark in Hills.

Kaza is having good tourist traffic these days.
If it rains badly then keep few or more days for Landslides in Hilly Areas.

***Road Update***


Spiti circuit is in its best of its shape I have seen.
Until Kaza and villages around including Pin Valley; Doable in any car!!!!
Kaza-Kunzum again doable in any car including sedans
Kunzum-Kokhsar is in its best of its shape I have ever seen; hardly any water crossings and doable in any car with decent GC; wouldn’t recommend a sedan but any hatch will easily do it; there are just 1/2 tricky spots in the whole route .

A BCMTIAN just returned from Kaza.

As per information recieved from BRO, NH 505 ---- has been restored for traffic.
However still driving conditions are not safe. Avoid travelling unnecessarily.
