On the first day you can do travel to Patnitop and stay there, it would be a more scenic place to stay than Udhampur and cooler as well. Of course, you will have to drive a lot more.

En route to Leh you can visit Drass War Memorial, Lamayuru Monastery, Alchi Monastery, Indus and Zanskar Confluence, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and Magnetic Hill.

Considering the number of days you have in hand, you might wish to spend an extra night in Nubra Valley and visit either Turtuk or Warshi apart from Sumur, Panamik, Diskit and Hunder.

Instead of coming back from Hanle, you have the option to take detour to Tso Moriri and Tso Kar and can head to Manali from there. Of course, that would increase your fuel requirement and after filling up from Diskit, you will need 840 km worth of fuel to reach Tandi.

Oh yes, driving time will be 20-30% more than what you got from Google Maps.

Thanks Yogesh Sir for immediate response on this.

Stay for Patnitop - Do you have an idea if the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel is now open to public? This way we can skip the Kud/Patnitop and go straight Udhampur to Sonamarg (Skipping Srinagar also)?

Yes, this is great idea to spent extra night at Nubra Valley and visit Turtuk.

So can we go like this Hanle - Nyoma - Tso Moriri - Pang? Is there any place to stay at Tso Moriri or Pang?

I will also carry 20lts jerry can for extra fuel.

Yes the tunnel is open and it will help you bypass Patnitop completely. However, Udhampur is going to be hot and you won’t really be Srinagar, although there is a bypass for it as well.

You can stay at Korzok Village on the banks of Tso Moriri. There is tented accommodation at Pang as well, but you would be better off doing Tso Moriri to Sarchu and staying there, since there are more options there (only tented.)

Can we apply permit for Hanle in Leh DC office? Just like other places Nubra, Pangong?

Hello Sir,

Just came back from Leh trip and I must say it was great.

This time I saw tourists are more interested for Leh then Srinagar. Julley people are welcoming the tourists with warm hospitality and its a good news for Ladakh!

Here was the trip itinerary goes...
Day 01 - Chandigarh to Patnitop.
Day 02 - Patnitop to Srinagar.
Day 03 - Srinagar to Sonamarg.
Day 04 - Sonamarg to Leh.
Day 05 - Leh.
Day 06 - Leh to Hunder.
Day 07 - Hunder to Pangong.
Day 08 - Pangong.
Day 09 - Pangong to Sarchu.
Day 10 - Sarchu to Leh.
Day 11 - Leh to Srinagar.
Day 12 - Srinagar to Chandigarh.

Total trip cost was around 90K incl (Fuel, Hotel, Food).

Yes... you are right that the permit for Hanle was not issued. However, we get the permit for Chushul, Tso Morriri but didn't go there. Why? will explain with pictures.

On Day 10 - At Zing-Zing Bar there was a massive land slide which blocked the road for 3-4 days. So we return back to Leh that day and came back from Srinagar.

I will post pictures with details very soon.

Cheers!!
