Very nice.

1. What was the hotel at Manikaran?
2. What and where is the green roofed house at Barot? It looks so lovely.
1. I don't remember the name of the hotel. It was owned by a Sikh family, near Gurdwara.
2.Green roofed house is the foest rest house of Himachal Pradesh beside the trout farm.

Mandi and Prashar lake

I came back from Rewalsar to Mandi. Mandi is a busy hill station beside the river Beas. I booked a car to go to Prasar lake. Prasar lake is unique in its beauty. Due to snow I had to walk 3 kilometers uphill to reach the lake and the temple. Next day I came to Chandigarh to catch train.

Who Am I
Prashar was great.

What was your experience of Holi in Himachal? Regarding availability of public transport, behaviour of revelers - keeping in mind the experience in Kolkata where everything is virtually shut / or you may go out at your own risk.

Shops, except food and medicines, were closed mostly. Wine shops were open, but none was ill behaved. It was not uncomfortable to roam around the "Chauk". Everyone was in a holiday mood. The day I went to Prasar lake was also Holi, 21st March 2019. So I can say the taxis were plying. They probably celebrate Holi for 7days. Holi is not risky in hill areas as it is in Bihar or UP or even in Kolkata :p:p:p:D

And miles to go before I sleep
Where did you stay at Prashar Lake ? There are two rest houses of forest and pwd . When I went there in 2018 , the pwd one ( which looked better) was closed due to pump maintenance. I stayed at the FRH ( had to book online) and enjoyed the warm hospitality of chowkider Rup Singh . The other caretaker Rajkumar was away on leave but still he helped me a lot by contacting Rup .

I did not stay at Prasar lake. I was alone. No public transport was plying due to snow. It was not season too. I can not trek long distance. So I hired a car from Mandi on my own, at Rs 2200. The car could not go upto the lake. I had to walk 3+3 km up and down in the snow. I visited the lake and the temple and came back to Mandi in the afternoon.
