It all started in 2010 year after year Himalayas pulls us like a magnet and we plan s trip during September and visit many places. This time it was a trip from Kedarnath to Badrinath in between we visited Triyug Narayan, Guptkashi, Kalimath, Kalpeshwar, Dhyan Badri ( Both these shrine can be reached after some trekking ), Joshimutt and Devpryag. Add to this all other prayags also.

Dhyan Badri
From 2010 we have been visiting Uttarakand. It all started with Chardham yatra . As it rained heavily and there was lot of land slide which affected our schedule we could have darshan of Yamunotri, Gangotri and Badrinath only that year.

Next year we came to complete the yatra and visited Kedar and Badri. The Himalayas pulled us again we came for the third time and had the darshan of Panch Badris.

Then the great Himalayan Tsunami shook the whole region and our trip also stopped.

Last year we just had the darshan of Badrinathji and returned back.

This year our plan was to trek on the Satopanth path. but some of our group members wanted to have the darshan of Kedarnathji. It was decided that one group will attempt Satopanth yatra and the other group Kedar and Badri and visit many shrines in between.

Our trip this year was like this

Chennai & Bangalore - New Delhi (By Flight)

New Delhi - Haridwar ( By Train)

Haridwar - Phata ( By Car)

Phata - Triyug narayan and stay at Phata

Phata to Kedarnath and back ( By helicopter)

Phata - Guptkasi

GuptKasi - Ukimath

Ukimath to Chopta and Stay at Chopta

Chopta to Gopeshwar

Gopeshwar to Urgam via Helong

Urgam to Kalpeshwar by trek.

Kalpeshwar to Dhyan Badri by trek.

Dhyanbadri to Joshimutt by car and stay at Joshimutt.

Joshimutt to Badrinath and stay at Badrinath.

Badrinath to Devprayag and Haridwar and back to Chennai/Bangalore

Day 1 : Chennai to Haridwar

Stay at Haridwar

Had the holy bath in the Ganges and left for Gupt Kasi the next day morning.

Day 2 : Haridwar to Phata & Darshan of Triyugi Narayan

Normally we hire vehicle from Delhi for the trip. As there is always a delay at Risikesh RTO office this time we decided to hire vehicle from Haridwar so we travelled by train from Delhi to Haridwar.

bk1f.jpg

On way to Devprayag

Early morning straight away we left for GuptKasi from Haridwar

bk5.jpg

Bathing Ghat of Devprayag

On the way we crossed Devprayag first then Rudraprayag and travelled towards Guptkasi

bk7.jpg

After the Himalayan Tsunami of 2013 to know about the tourists visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath the Government started registering their details. We registered our details at Guptkasi centre and reached Phata and booked helicopter tickets at Phata. As time was there we proceeded to Triyugi narayan.

Phata Village

Triyuginarayan village where the temple is located is about 12 Km from Sonprayag on motorable road till the temple.

bk11.jpg

Triyugi Narayan shrine
bk253.jpg

As the name suggests this temple is there during the three period of times namely Satya, Treta and Dvapara and now Kali. The celestial marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati ( Daughter of King of Mountains) was solemnized here in the presence of Lord Narayan.

The holy fire which was lit at the time of the marriage is still kept burning so is called Akhand Dhuni ie perpetual Fire. Pilgrims have been offering fire wood to this havan all through these ages.

bk12.jpg

Vishnu Kund

Before the marriage ceremony, the gods are believed to have taken bath in three kunds or small ponds namely, Rudra-kund, Vishnu-kund and Brahma -kund. The inflow into the three kunds is from the Saraswati-kund, which - according to legend - originated from Vishnu's navel. Hence, the water of these kunds is considered to cure infertility.

Perpetual Fire - Akhand Dhuni
According to the scripture, pilgrims who visit this temple consider the ashes from the burning fire as holy and carry it with them to keep in their house.

Shiv- Parvati

bk254.jpg

Pooja at Dharma-sila

The marriage of Shiv-Parvati was solemnized at this holy spot and is now known as Dharm-Shila. Pilgrims offer pooja to Shiv-Parvati here and donate rice to the priests.

The Triyuginarayan temple resembles the temple of Kedarnath in architectural style . It is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya . The shrine houses a silver image of Lord Vishnu (Narayana), accompanied with consort - goddess of wealth Lakshmi and the goddess of music and learning - Saraswati.

My colleague Mr. Kapruwan was instrumental for us visiting this shrine my sincere thanks to him. We returned to Phata and stayed there.

Day 3: Darshan of Kedarnathji, GuptKasi, Kalimath & Ukimath

bk10.jpg

We were blessed with the darshan of Kedar Baba in 2011. After the Himalayan Tsunami I was longing to have His darshan. It was only a miracle that the temple survived. By His grace the dream came true this year. We sat at the feet of the Lord and cried for those thousands who attained His feet during the great deluge. In the route map the old trekking of 14Km is shown in dottedline and the new 18Km route by solid line. Last time we trekked but this time we preferred to travel by Helicopter. We planned the trip in September because helicopter trip started which was stopped during monsoon time.

Those who are above 90 Kgs are charged etc for helicopter depending upon their weight. Also passengers are accommodated in the helicopter depending on the weight so as to optimize the helicopter operations. It takes about 7 mins from Phata to Kedarnath.

The scars of the landslide can be clearly seen, this has damaged the earlier trek route and hence the pilgrims are now trekking by a new route which is on the other bank of Mandankhini river which is longer.

Dear Gaurav,

Dhyan Badri and Kalpeshwar are accessible throughout the year. These shrines are not affected by snow. From Helang now vehicles ply to about 10 Km, just 3 Km short of Urgam village. Regular vehicled ply from Helang for the benifit of the villagers. You can travel by your four wheeler also but MAXX or Bolero is most suited for this road.

To reach Urgam Village where Dhyan Badri is situated you have to trek for about 3 Km. But the path is concrete and there is absolutely no problem for trekking. Normally the temple will be locked, if the priest is not there also some body from his family will open the shrine and you can have the darshan of Lord Badrinath.

Kalpeshwar is still 2 Km ahead of Dhyan Badri upto Kalpeshwar the concrete road is laid.

Thank you so much sir ... thats great information..
Actually last december during my visit to bhavishya badri, we 5 collegue tried for Kalpeshwar.. we had our swift with us but due to the narrow and boulders filled road we cancelled this plan and ventured towards Joshimath with a thinking that on our return journey we should visit it, but the plan never was never made afterwards. so will plan again in coming months.

Wish you a nice darshan of Dhyan Badrinath and Kalpeshwar.

During your visit to Bavishya Badri did you visit the new temple at the summit or you returned from Subayi village temple.

Kedarnath Dham
Really we were overwhelmed with emotions on seeing Kedardham. As we don't know what is in store we photographed each and every inch of the shrine from every possible angle.

It was evident that some improvements have taken place after the great deluge. A new bridge across Saraswati has been built, temporary accomodation has been built nearer to Helibase and arrangement has been made for Prasad for pilgrims.

The Miracle rock

Wherefrom this rock came and how it posotioned at that location Lord Shiva only knows. The compound wall, other shrines near the temple, Adi Sankara memorial, The Jyotir Linga shrine, langar, the shops on both sides and the acccomodation around the shrine, the old bridge across Mandahankini, Mandahankani shrine all has been wiped out in the great deluge only this shrine leftout.

bk51.jpg

The Mandhankini Valley
The weather was good that day and the crowd was also minimum, so we had a very good darshan, we could recite Rudram and conduct ablutions to the Lord. To placate the Lord Shivaa Bhim massaged Him with ghee since he caught hold of Him. So even today to massage the Lord Kedarnath with ghee is considered very good. We also got a chance to do the same.

We also prayed to the Lord for the thousands of unknown devotees who attained His feet during the great deluge and prayed to Him for the welfare of everybody. Out next darshan was at Gupt Kasi.
