A Trip to Gurduwaras at Patna

End of October 2015, I had to attend a marriage in Tatanagar, Jamshedpur and booked myself for Train Journey in Rajdhani for up and down journey from Delhi.

Then, it was decided to proceed to Takht Sri Patna Sahib and adjoining Gurduwaras and itinerary changed as New Delhi - Tatanagar - Patna Sahib - Delhi.

Please note that City of Patna has a main Railway Station as Patna City and separate Railway Station as Patna Sahib (Railway Code - PNC) which is very close to the Gurduwaras. This should always be kept in mind as not all Trains halt at Patna Sahib station. Cycle and Autorickshaws for this short stretch are available in plenty.

Gurudwara Baal Leela Maini, which is only about 1 km from the Station has the best amenities for staying. It hosts ‘Raj Mata Vishambra Devi Ji Yatri Niwas’ which has fully furnished large and clean rooms with AC, Hot Water, attached Toilet Bath etc. Lifts are installed to reach upper floors and Water Coolers are installed on every floor. Rooms are fairly priced and available on first come first serve basis. Langar is served throughout the day. It is important to note that Packed Langar is also served to take away for return journey. In case, the journey is scheduled at odd hours, prior information to the staff must be given to obtain packed Langar.

This Gurudwara is of Historic importance. (For full and authentic history of Gurudwaras - please Google)

From Gurudwara Bal Leela Maini, Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib Patna is only about 200 Mts. and is covered by foot through narrow street.

The Gurduwara has number of relics related to early life of Sri Guru Gobind Singh which are displayed every morning at 09:30 AM. Keeping in view that while photographing these, you may be obstructing the view of other devotees. Hence, a 100-300 mm lens is good enough to capture them from the farthest point and a Tripod would be advantageous (which I missed).

There is a Single, 20 Seater Bus service from Gurduwara Gate to take a tour of other important and Historical Gurduwaras in Patna. The Bus makes a Trip early morning and another trip in the afternoon. The Tickets are available on the spot and at first come first serve basis.

The Tour takes the devotees to

1. Gurudwara Guru Ka Bagh,

2. Gurudwara Haandi Sahib, and

3. Gurudwara Gau Ghat.

Gurudwara Kangan Ghat is at a walking distance from the Takht. You would require the help of locals to find and reach the small room which carries the name of this Gurudwara,

Pictures of the Trip are being shared
