@Yogesh Sarkar ji.. Hope you have come back from your recent ladakh trip. Can you give some status update on accommodation at pangong during this time (Mid October)? Whether tents/ guest houses are open and whats the tariff ???I will be in Ladakh towards the end of September, I will try and find accommodation status at Pangong Tso for October. Rest of the places like Gaurav said, would be easy to get, due to off season, provided they are still open.
Excellent note to clarify doubts for folks like me who are in a dilemma of 1N / 2N between Manali-Leh. Thanks a ton!!Why people prefer sarchu over pang.
In 2008, June 22nd we started from Keylong in the late morning and reached Sarchu by 1 or 2 pm. There were no swiss tent at that time. Had Lunch at a dhabha tent and asked for the probability of stay there.
He told us that there is a Nalha just before pang which is impossible to cross after noon (we were in 7 yrs old Indica) and we have no option but to stay there with him but we took a chance and reached safely at pang well before sunset.
Now if you stay in Pang, you can reach Leh well on time as compared to sarchu and relax better there and if you are starting from Keylong you will be in Sarchu in afternoon and can reach pang well in time before sunset.
There will be absolute no need to wake up in wee hours and rush. specially for someone, like me, who is in pure relaxing mood.
Altitude between two places is nothing to choose. both as equally hostile.
We had to stay in a dhabha tent for Rs. 50 pp but the lady tent owner was so co operative that she took one of our friend to the nearby army hospital braving the chill at 2 am who was drinking non stop.
Will the so called luxury tent owners be so co operative to the first timers (and others too) that they would accompany them to the nearest medical post in odd hours.
Any idea, do they have some kind of so called luxury tents in Pang?
