Amarnath Yatra may be held this year for only 15 days.
Covid-19 has it's impact for sure.

People can't come even if they want to come after too many precautions with sky rocket costs for sure.
No one knows when they will be able to get appropriate means of transportation.

Barring sadhus, no pilgrims above 55 years of age will be allowed in the Amarnath yatra which has been curtailed to 14 days this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, officials said Saturday.
The pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir has been re-jigged due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The pilgrimage will now take place through the shorter route from Baltal to the Amarnath caves. The longer route from Pahalgam will not be used for the pilgrimage which will now begin on July 21 and end on August 3.
While Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, of which Baltal is a part, has already pressed men and machinery for clearing the tracks, officials of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) will start leaving Jammu on Monday for assisting in clearance of Baltal track and lay bailey bridges over streams.
The decision to shorten the span of yatra was taken during a meeting held by Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor GC Murmu last week.
“It will be regulated in view of the pandemic and all those undertaking the Yatra must possess Covid-19 negative certificates. The pilgrims will be cross-checked for Covid- 19 infection on entry into J&K before they are allowed to undertake the yatra,” said an official who did not wish to be named.
All pilgrims except sadhus will have to register themselves online. “No pilgrims above 55 years of age will be allowed,” he said.
“In a first of its kind SASB is also trying to telecast live ‘Aarti’ from the cave shrine in the morning and evening for the devotees,” he said.
“Since it would be a curtailed yatra, the SASB is also mulling to allow it via helicopters only,” another official said.
However, the lieutenant governor’s principal secretary and CEO of SASB, Bipul Pathak said, “Board is yet to meet and take a decision. When it is decided, media will come to know.”

On Friday, the exercise for the yatra got underway with the ritualistic Pratham Puja.
The government had decided in February this year to hold the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.
The Amarnath yatra was originally scheduled to begin from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on June 23 and end on August 3 on the day of Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).

Last year, the yatra was cut short following intelligence inputs of terror threats ahead of the Centre scrapping Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, the pilgrimage was held for 60 days.
Thousands of pilgrims either trek the traditional and longer 45-km long Pahalgam route or the shorter 14 km route through Baltal to the shrine every year.

With Jammu and Kashmir witnessing a spike in Covid-19 cases, authorities are considering holding Amarnath Yatra only through the shorter Baltal route this year.
The 41-day yatra was to begin on June 23, but owing to Covid-19, authorities are yet to make an announcement. In April, the UT administration and Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board said the yatra would be cancelled this year. The press note was later withdrawn.
Shafqat Iqbal, DC of Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, through which Baltal route passes, said, “The work of trek clearance and repair is on. Tentative dates have not been communicated to us, but we are expecting it (yatra) may happen in July. This time, there will be less yatris and it is likely to take place only via Baltal route.”

There are two trekking routes to the shrine — the Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal trek that is 14 km from the base camp at Baltal.
While the officials said they haven’t received confirmed dates yet, sources said the yatra is likely to start on July 21.
A senior official in Srinagar said that if the yatra begins next month, it will be “challenging”.

The request to telecast the annual Yatra for Lord Shiva comes at a time when there is talk of the Yatra getting curtailed due to the threat posed by Coronavirus rising cases in the country.

With more and more states reporting higher number of cases, state governments and courts restrained people from congregating at religious events.

Amarnath Yatra 2020: In a first, DD has been requested by the SASB shrine board to live telecast Amarnath pooja! The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) which organises the Amarnath Yatra every year has requested the national broadcaster Doordarshan to live telecast the yatra for the devotees on television. For pilgrims, live telecast of poojas amidst COVID-19 related restrictions will offer relief. The decision comes in the wake of the spread of Coronavirus in the country. With more and more states reporting higher number of cases, state governments and courts restrained people from congregating at religious events. In this context, the shrine board has asked DD to telecast the live morning and evening Pooja during the pilgrimage, IE reported. The Amarnath pilgrimage is expected to set off in the next month.
“We have got a request for half an hour telecast each in the morning and evening on DD national,”G D Tahir, head programming, Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar told IE. He also said it is up to the Delhi headquarters of the Doordarshan to accede to the request. He also added that if the request is acceded to then it will be a first as this would be the first time when the live telecast of the pilgrimage will be run on the national broadcaster. Previously, DD only ran the recorded content/videos of the pilgrimage.

Amarnath Yatra 2020: What changes to expect for the annual pilgrimage?
The request to telecast the annual Yatra for Lord Shiva comes at a time when there is talk of the Yatra getting curtailed due to the threat posed by Coronavirus rising cases in the country. IE quoted some of its sources as saying that the Yatra may get started by 21st of July and may get concluded by the first week of August. The pilgrimage is likely to be cut to 15 days in place of the month long annual pilgrimage organised every year.
When asked about the possibility of the Yatra getting shortened due to Coronavirus, Ganderbal’s Deputy Commissioner told IE that the work on the trek has been completed and it is upto the higher authorities to decide on the duration and path of the trek. However, the health department has suggested that children below 15 years of age and adults above 60 be not allowed to embark on the pilgrimage this time as they remain most vulnerable to the deadly virus.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 4 (ANI): In view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the Amarnath 'Aarti' this year will be telecast live on Doordarshan and only a maximum of 500 yatris will proceed from Jammu by road per day to perform darshan.
"Given the constraints, a maximum of 500 yatris only could be allowed per day by road from Jammu. It was informed that Baba Amarnath Aarti this year will be telecast live on Doordarshan," Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam said.
Subrahmanyam on Saturday chaired a meeting of the sub-committee constituted by the Supreme Court for Amarnath Yatra. He emphasised that adequate arrangements should be made to ensure unhindered telecast of the Aarti.
As per the official release, Subrahmanyam said that all entrants into Jammu and Kashmir will have to be sampled, tested and quarantined till they are reported to be negative.
"The camping facilities earlier utilised for yatris, especially at entry points are currently being utilised as quarantine centres. Keeping in view of the circumstances, the yatra this year would have to be undertaken in a restricted manner so that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 are strictly adhered to during the conduct of the yatra," said the release.
In the meeting, officials informed the Chief Secretary that adequate stock of drugs, consumable items, sleeping bags, besides PPE kits and masks are being made available to the doctors and paramedical staff being deployed for yatra duty.
Officials further informed him that two base hospitals are also being established along Baltal route. Isolation facilities will have to be created to ensure any COVID-19 challenges are addressed on an emergent basis at the camp itself.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Ganderbal and Anantnag districts, Additional CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) besides other senior functionaries of the concerned departments attended the meeting through video conference.
Earlier, Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of the holy mace of Lord Shiva, had announced the schedule for this year's Amarnath Yatra.
As per the schedule, after performing the Chhari-Pujan at Dashnami Akhara Srinagar on the occasion of 'Nag-Panchami' on July 25, Mahant Giri will carry the holy mace to the holy shrine of Swami Amarnath to have 'darshan' on 'Shravan-Purnima' on August 3. (ANI)

The Amarnath ‘Aarti’ this year will be telecast live on Doordarshan, while in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to allow only a maximum of 500 yatris to proceed from Jammu by road daily to perform darshan.
This was decided during a meeting of the sub- committee constituted by the Supreme Court for Shri Amarnathji Yatra, held under the chairmanship of J&K Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam, in Jammu.
An official spokesperson said during the meeting it was informed that Baba Amarnath ‘Aarti’ this year will be telecast live on Doordarshan.
The Chief Secretary emphasised that adequate arrangements should be made to ensure unhindered telecast of the Aarti, he said. Given the constraints, a maximum of 500 yatris only could be allowed per day by road from Jammu.
Therefore, arrangements will have to be limited to this number. With regard to the security arrangements, the Chief Secretary asked the police to ensure effective regulation of the Yatra at access control gates. He emphasised that all deployments in relation to security, rescue and fire and emergency need to be in place well in time.
While reviewing the preparations for the annual pilgrimage, the Chief Secretary observed that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the State Executive Committee constituted under the Disaster Management Act has issued SoPs which, inter alia, prescribe 100% RTPCR test for all persons travelling into J&K.
All entrants into J&K will have to be sampled, tested and quarantined till they are reported to be negative. Besides, social distancing norms would further strain these holding capacities.. Chief Secretary said, keeping in view these circumstances, the Yatra this year, would have to be undertaken in a restricted manner, so that the SoPs for Covid-19 are strictly adhered to during the conduct of the Yatra.
The 42-day long annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas was scheduled to begin from June 23 from traditional Pahalgam -Chandanwari track and shorter Sonamarag-Baltal route.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the decision to cut-short the time period of the pilgrimage was taken last month during a meeting held by Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor GC Murmu.
Every year lakhs of pilgrims either take the traditional and longer 45km-long Pahalgam route or the shorter 14km-long Baltal route to Amarnath, one of Hinduism’s holiest shrines. The pilgrimage usually spans nearly a month-and-a-half and takes place during July and August.
Last year, the yatra was cut short following intelligence inputs of terror threats ahead of the Centre scrapping Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, the pilgrimage was held for 60 days.

Amarnath Yatra के इतिहास में पहली बार हुआ आरती का LIVE प्रसारण, श्रद्धालुओं ने घर बैठे किए दर्शन

Amarnath Yatra :
