I was traveling in AC. So i managed to get Upper Class waiting room for freshen up.
They have Bath room which is big and neat and clean toilet is cleaner. Basins are good as well. I did not face any issue.
There is another olace near Golden temple they charge 6 Rs for everything (Bath ,Toilet) that is also very clean. Sorry i dont remember the name.

I would recommend if anyone carrying huge luggage please use the Cloak room in station.
They charge 15RS for 24 hours.

There are loads of shoe stands near the temple.

Even the shopkeepers will allow you to keep your footwears safely. I saw few examples.
Good Info !

Awesome guide Satinderji! Really useful for planning a trip.

I am planning to visit Amritsar on 9th August, below is the broad itinerary -

1. Delhi - Wagah (6am - 2pm)
2. After ceremony @ Wagah, back to Amritsar.
3. Jaliawallah Bagh & Golden Temple.

Now my concerns -
** Have to be back in Chandigarh on 10th morning - so have to cover these places on 9th itself and drive from Amritsar to Chandigarh on 9th night.

1. Timing of the ceremony at Wagah?
2. Everybody advises about reaching Wagah early. How early is early?
3. The ceremony is super crowded, any precautions?
3. Closure time of Jaliawallah Bagh. Depending on when the ceremony ends, I might miss it! In that case should I start early from Delhi and cover Wagah after Amritsar?
5. Best route from Delhi - Delhi - Karnal - Ambala - Ludhiana - Jalandhar - Amritsar?

Here are the few answers

1. Timing of the ceremony at Wagah?

It starts at 4.30 PM and end in an hour

2. Everybody advises about reaching Wagah early. How early is early?

The idle time is reach by 3 PM
Gates open at 4 PM

3. The ceremony is super crowded, any precautions?

Nothing to worry much. Mind your steps in teh gallery. When i was there 2 ladies got hospitalized for wrong stepping.

3. Closure time of Jaliawallah Bagh. Depending on when the ceremony ends, I might miss it! In that case should I start early from Delhi and cover Wagah after Amritsar?

Jalianawallah Bagh is open upto 6 PM

5. Best route from Delhi - Delhi - Karnal - Ambala - Ludhiana - Jalandhar - Amritsar?

Doing Delhi - Wagah (~500km) in 8 hours will be a bit of stretching, doable anyways.

1. Timing of the ceremony at Wagah?
I heard that time "Beating retreat" ceremony varies as per sunset time. Usually happens between 4:30 to 5:30 PM. I will check the timestamp from my pics and let you know exact timings.

2. Everybody advises about reaching Wagah early. How early is early?
If you are going on weekends/holidays I would suggest to reach 2 hrs before ceremony... bus full of tourist arrive before time to occupy all the seats...

3. The ceremony is super crowded, any precautions?
Nothing to worry about. Event is well managed. reaching early guarantees a seat inside audi, else you will have to stand outside to view the ceremony...

3. Closure time of Jaliawallah Bagh. Depending on when the ceremony ends, I might miss it! In that case should I start early from Delhi and cover Wagah after Amritsar?
Not sure about closing time. But as its near to Golden temple, it makes sense to do both at once. Also you will have to go off the main highway, it will consume atleast 1-2 hrs
Further I will suggest to visit Golden temple in evening/dark... with all lights ON, temple has a different view..

5. Best route from Delhi - Delhi - Karnal - Ambala - Ludhiana - Jalandhar - Amritsar?
Yes this is the best route

I have a query on Golden Temple multilevel car parking [MLCP] near Town Hall and Brother's Dhaba. Is there a down ramp from a flyover connecting the NH 15/GNT Road and the MLCP? MapMyIndia shows the parking flyover from NH 15. But, during my last visit to Amritsar in Sep 2013, I walked around the complex only to find a lot of shops, but I did not see any flyover. The entrance was closed, IIRC. But, in Sep 2011 during my Leh visit, I parked my erstwhile Linea at MLCP but there was no flyover. I wish to park my XUV 500 at MLCP when I visit the Golden Temple in this Sep. Kindly apprise me of the latest information on the flyover to MLCP, and if there is one, the access to this flyover.

I do not have the answer as I had driven right upto the temple. But even if you park here you would still need to hire a rick or something, or do you plan to walk? Maybe you're better off hiring a tempo from your hotel itself?

The condition of the parking lot didnt look too appealing either from outside :(
