We have some android mobiles which need some tips & tricks to work smoothly.
I get many questions from fellow members and friends to sort out the problem.

Ask here if you have some problem
or
Give suggestions / solutions to solve the problems which we face.

I have some mobiles which I face problems with them regularly small or big.
Mostly these are software issues.
Hardware issues are rare.
Me & others can share our experience with you all.

Mobiles in Cold Weather normally tend to fail or shut down immediately.
You stand stunned when you suddenly feel that you opened your mobile to shoot a picture in a beautiful surrounding and mobile shuts down.

This is mostly due to cold weather.
New mobile can also get shut down.
But mostly old mobiles shut down.

Cold weather makes your battery to shut down as sudden temperature change can make battery fail.
This happens with most electronic gadgets like Mobile, Camera, Remote, etc. (Cars can also have thermal shock/)

Remedy:
1. Keep your mobile inside a pocket in shirt so that it gets regular heat from your body without exposing to outside weather.
2. Keep your mobile out for short duration only.
3. Try to use a Flip cover as it covers mobile from both side like a blanket.

If you know more please suggest.
Other than throwing mobile !
LOL !

Mobile gets jam or hanged.
Mostly this is due to cache memory being filled up to full.
Old mobiles mostly had less memory and are tend to fill shortly.
Or
those who use whatsapp more feel the pich early.

Remedy:
Use cache cleaner to clean the temporary files.
Power Clean is also such cache cleaner with less memory space.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lionmobi.powerclean&hl=en

Or if you don't have enough memory then ?
A short cut is here.
Goto Settings>>Storage>> Cache Memory>> Clean

In some mobiles like having Jellybean etc.
Touch cache memory, it will show clean option.

In MIUI cache cleaner is already ther. Use it.

I have a Xonfone 5 of a friend which is having trouble.

Problem:
Looking for some solutions.
It is dead, not getting up at all.
Battery is fully charged.
Tried many tips & tricks but it is dead.

Some Options / Remedy:
1. This solution worked for one time only after some attempts.

http://www.freecomputertricks.in/2014/12/oplus-xonphone-5-hard-reset-and-pattern-unlock-solution.html
Oplus Xonphone 5 Hard Reset
  • Switch off the phone
  • Connect Charger and Press Volume Up + Power for recovery menu
  • Now press power button to see the recovery option
  • Volume Down and select wipe data/factory reset
  • Press Volume Up to OK
Oplus Xonphone 5 Hard Reset and Pattern Unlock Solution.jpg

It worked for few times.
Keys are little bit tricky to operate.
Try finger nails to press volume up or down button at its edges, to middle of button.
It works with little hard work.
I am able to do after several attempts.

It seems its software needs to flashed with original ROM.
But friend got it flashed earlier few times.

Now again same thing is happening.
Seems custom ROM like MIUI 8 stable version may work.
If it still not works then it seems to be hardware issue which is making it to go dead after sometime.

Option / substitute of battery of Oplus Xonfone 5:
as suggested here:
1.
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/291310/Is+there+any+replacement+for+the+battery+for+this+model.

For Oplus Xonphone 5, I used the Intex BR2075AD for Intex Aqua I7 With 2000mAh. The specifications are the same and fits nearly well. Only, you may have to add support at the bottom of the battery as the height is lower (shop guys fixed this with a plastic wire).
as user^

Available at ebay india:
http://www.ebay.in/itm/152120698675?aff_source=Sok-Goog

2.
Spice SCRB-16 is
Spice also has similar battery, but you have to put paper to fill the gap at lower end.
a user^

But I went to karolbagh gaffar market and paid 450 for spice battery which had some gap at end but they put plastic filler.
Battery is of 1500 mAh only.

Some of these codes may work and some may not,
Try at your own risk as some codes ae meant for Engineers only.

ANDROID secret codes

*#06# - IMEI number
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity). An IMEI is a serial number that uniquely identifies a GSM or UMTS mobile phone. Typically 15 digits long, the IMEI code is broken into sections that provide information about a phone, such as its manufacturer, to the mobile network that the phone is connected to. IMEI numbers of stolen devices are blacklisted in some countries so that the phone can not easily be used by a thief.

*#*#273282*255*663282*#*#* - Immediate backup of all media files

*#*#4636#*#*

This code can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows following 4 menus on screen:

* Phone information
* Battery information
* Battery history
* Usage statistics

*#*#7780#*#*

This code can be used for a factory data reset. It'll remove following things:

* Google account settings stored in your phone
* System and application data and settings
* Downloaded applications
It'll NOT remove:

* Current system software and bundled applications
* SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.
PS: Once you give this code, you get a prompt screen asking you to click on "Reset phone" button. So you get a chance to cancel your operation.

*2767*3855# - Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.

PS: Once you give this code, there is no way to cancel the operation unless you remove the battery from the phone. So think twice before giving this code

*#*#34971539#*#* - This code is used to get information about phone camera. It shows following 4 menus:
* Update camera firmware in image (Don't try this option)
* Update camera firmware in SD card
* Get camera firmware version
* Get firmware update count

WARNING: Never use the first option otherwise your phone camera will stop working and you'll need to take your phone to service center to reinstall camera firmware.

*#*#7594#*#*

This one is favorite one. This code can be used to change the "End Call / Power" button action in your phone. Be default, if you long press the button, it shows a screen asking you to select any option from Silent mode, Airplane mode and Power off.

You can change this action using this code. You can enable direct power off on this button so you don't need to waste your time in selecting the option.

*#*#225#*#* - Events calendar.

*#*#426#*#* - Debug information for Google Play service.
It serves several purposes, but many apps require it for access to Google API's that they're not necessarily given, but are allowed to access. Disabling it, stopping it, etc will obviously have a detrimental effect on Google's apps, but will also likely break many, if not most, of your other apps (from the Play Store).

*#*#759#*#* - Access Google Partner setup (Rlz debug interface).

*#872564# - USB logging control

*#9900# - System dump mode

*#*#97#*#* - Language and Keyboard settings

*#*#46*#*# - Reset Sim

*#301279# - HSDPA
HSDPA means High Speed Downlink Packet Access and is a technique used in the UMTS mobile communication system, the download speeds of currently 3.6 Mbit/s to 7.2 Mbit/s. HSUPA is developed commercially since 2007 in Germany. High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA, 3.5G, 3G + or UMTS broadband) is a data transmission method of the cellular standards UMTS, which was defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project. The method enables DSL-like data rates in mobile networks. HSDPA is available in Germany, among others by the network operators Vodafone, E-Plus, O2, and telecom and in Switzerland by Swisscom, Sunrise and Orange. In Austria operate the A1, T-Mobile, Orange and Three HSDPA networks./HSUPA
HSUPA means High Speed Uplink Packet Access and is a technique used in the UMTS mobile communication system, the upload speeds up to 5.8 Mbit/s. High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) is a transmission method of the UMTS mobile radio standard that allows higher data rates in the uplink and reduces the round trip time (often referred to as ping). HSUPA Category 6 were up to 5.76 Mbit / s and category 9 (Release 9) up to 23 Mbit / s can be achieved. HSUPA is part of Release 9 of UMTS. Control Menu

*#7465625# - View phone lock status

*#*#273283*255*663282*#*#* - This code opens a File copy screen where you can backup your media files e.g. Images, Sound, Video and Voice memo.

*#*#197328640#*#* - This code can be used to enter into Service mode. You can run various tests and change settings in the service mode.

MAC addresses are 6-byte (48-bits) in length, and are written in MM:MM:MM:SS:SS:SS format. The first 3-bytes are ID number of the manufacturer, which is assigned by an Internet standards body. The second 3-bytes are serial number assigned by the manufacturer.

*#*#1472365#*#* - GPS
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. test

*#*#1575#*#* - For a more advanced GPS test

*#*#232331#*#* - Bluetooth test
Bluetooth first appeared as a consumer technology in 2000 and it is still going strong. It's a wireless communication protocol for connecting devices through the air - it's slower than Wi-Fi but is often simpler to set up, and is usually preferred for device-to-device transfers. With just about every smartphone out there supporting Bluetooth, it's become the default way for connecting up speakers, headphones and other devices to phones without wires. It works across plenty of other devices too, including printers, remotes and computers.

*#*#232337#*# - Shows Bluetooth device address

*#*#8255#*#* - This code can be used to launch GTalk Service Monitor.
Gtalk Service Monitor and play services monitor are developer options to let you examine and debug the push connections to google talk and google play services. Below these, the "restore default heartbeats" button lets you bring back the original heartbeat exchange settings if you have to. The final button is about making a donation to the developer of this convenient app. and that is it! now, you are left to experiment with the data and wi-fi settings until you land the most comfortable intervals for you.

*#*#2222#*#* - FTA HW Version

*#*#44336#*#* - PDA, Phone, CSC
The Customer Service Code (CSC) plays an important role in the operation of your Samsung mobile device. Different countries have different standards for both voice and data communications to a cell phone tower. Although most countries follow the international standard for WiFi connects, there are variations from the standard. The CSC code ensures that your mobile device complies with the standards for your country, and your cell phone operator. The CSC code also determines the source for firmware updates via FOTA or Samsung Kies., Build Time, Changelist number

Today 20 May 2017
I had to flash Xonfone 5 as it was dead from more than 6 months.
It was not getting on.
Stuck on logo only.
Software upgrade / Flash was needed.

Downloaded
ADB MTK Driver

Original Firmware

SPFLash Tool

Check / download from here :

http://twentybytes.com/usb-driver/oplus-xonphone-5-usb-driver-for-windows-7xp8-32bit-64bit-free-download/

http://symptomdb.com/drivers/android/

https://www.google.co.in/search?q=xomphone+5+driver+pc&oq=xomphone+5+driver+pc&aqs=chrome..69i57.8071j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

After downloading above 3 things.
I installed USB Driver for MTK device.
Then installed SP Flash Tool.
Here
When SP Flash Tool got installed, mobile needed to be off.
Then connect Mobile to PC via USB cable.
Now as shown in video
I just find the scatter file in OPUS Original Firmware folder.
Checked for Upgrade only.
Then pressed download.

All was done automatically.

Video for actual guidance :

And it was done easily in sometime.

Xonfone 5 is a friend's mobile.
Now working.
