Android Mobiles : Tips & Tricks

Not Android, specifically MIUI. Also mentioned a lot is battery/power usage. - And overheating related to it. After updates.

[Better use keypad mobiles. ]
I even thought about it...for few seconds. :) But...all kinds of things - medical insurance, car insurance, Uber, ...although the bank transactions notifications SMS would still work, that's about all.

Another thing, the size of the phones. Mentioned in thread yesterday on audiosciencereview, guy asking for advice on what phone to buy, some people do not like these big phones...and you remember I asked jammbuster about it... but now I'm thinking it's ok - as long as it fits in my pocket ok. Because....you see, much of the time I make only 1 or 2 calls in a month...I get lot of SMS and I use it more. Maybe 3-4-5 times I browse forums (2 forums). I never watch Youtube on mobile... I am not rich.
And it is not nice on screen size of S5. I have to make it bigger and scroll sideways.

But there is one time it becomes important - when you are travelling or you are in hospital or waiting somewhere for long. It was very important to me when I was in hospital for 11 days.
So just for that, big screen phone is good, just in case you need it.

Something I need to find out now... I see from r/xiaomi or r/android, some Xiamoi/Redmi/Pocophone, they have adverts coming up in UI [NB I don't mean websites] it shows up in Notifications, when you pull down notifications, things like that. But it only some models and/or some countries.
I want to avoid that, definitely.
I don't know which version I would get here, in SA. EU Version, global version, Chinese version. I see that some in Europe get Chinese version, depends where you buy it /which suppliers.

I was looking yesterday... only Xiaomi available from the major online retailer is Redmi Note 9 /Pro. But I can get others from lesser suppliers, I will just get some recommendation about them first, how is the service, etc.
So I was looking /comparing that and A71.

Also would much prefer removable battery. Because I keep phones for years. Before this 2014 S5, I had two phones that had to be replaced because of battery, everything else was fine.

Other thing is SD card, must. I see some are dual SIM or use the slot for SD card instead. That's ok, I don't need dual SIM, is not useful here. I have more than one SIM but I take it out, so I know it's not seen by network. iow is for security.

...So... :-k ...

No removable battery is in new mobiles as technology has changed much.

Redmi Note 9 Pro is better.
It has some different software (advanced than Note 9).
As seen in Note 5 & Note 5 Pro.

Apps are bigger now and it feels 4/64GB is best and 6/128 will be better if you are not going to replace it for next 3 years.
Hardware reliability is better of Xiaomi.
Service Center or market is ready to repair a Xiaomi Mobile with accessories available easily.
You may get Global Version with your country warranty.

I prefer big mobiles for browsing / surfing etc specially on the Go.

Small mobile also in use mostly for OTP & Call purposes.

^^^That's a good idea. These days i don't take the phone with me when i go to the supermarket, because i don't want to sanitise like everything else. Just part of my way of managing. But a cheap button phone would be easy to sanitise. I can get one for about Rs600 that is exact copy of that famous Nokia...

:-D

What about Pocophone ? X3 seems to be the best one. The first Pocophone was very good VFM, but there is not such good opinion of the new models .

Different apps preinstalled ? More bloatware apps?

And when it is someone like me that never used most apps that came with S5 ?

Other differences? Because 9S price is about 25% less. ..................And i must soon buy a new expensive laptop.

Don't worry about bloatware apps as reviewers put it like black sheeps.

You can always uninstall such apps or make it inactive.

I have done that with many apps and I keep battery Saver active to keep apps in sleep mode to save battery from regular notifications etc.
Keeping internet off is another way to avoid battery drain.

If feel any such issues problematic,
Solutions are there too.
LOL !
