This should be very interesting Tapas. Apart from Tinsukhia I have never heard of any of these places

Tinsukia is as usual a bustling town which is the another entry point to Arunachal...
Its also called Mini Bihar as Biharis are seen in plenty there..
Just a business gateway,, nothing much to do over there in Tinsukia... Public transports to various parts of Arunachal starts from Tinsukia..

Believe it or not, I had made a rough plan of reaching Dong...way back in 2003-04 (seems like ages ago)
Memories of that plan came flooding back after reading your plan. Back then reaching Dong would have involved multiple ferry crossings etc...I guess now there is motorable road right up to Walong. Post which it is a trek to reach Dong.

Reaching walong is no issues ... the road is motorable..
Even Kibithu can be reached.. then motorable upto Dapho then trek to Dong..
I doubt they still provide permits for Dong...

Have you heard/read anything about issues in getting permit for Dong? I don't think too many people still go there. Plus you don't really need to mention Dong in permit. I don't think there would be check posts after Kibithu.

On your question about Namdapha, the itineraries I had seen earlier when I was evaluating Namdapha, Eaglenest indicated a 9 day plan. But you can probably do the Hornbill spot. February will be a good time for birding.

This is just my amateur view. I am sure others can give a better input based on experience

Have you heard/read anything about issues in getting permit for Dong? I don't think too many people still go there. Plus you don't really need to mention Dong in permit. I don't think there would be check posts after Kibithu.

Yes i know people struggled to get permit for Dong which gets the very first sun ray during sunrise..
In ILP dong should not be mentioned but you need another permit from Army .. just like visiting Bumla or Yarlung...
Yes there is strict check point from ITBP in Kibithu... Last town in India Bhai...

One can clearly see chinese part from there...

Chetan Bhai i am not much into birding..
And in Feb its not possible to go so long upto AP again...
