Hi
has anyone travelled to Arunachal recently ,
I wanted to get some advise related to
a) how to travel to Arunachal ( where to land by plane, what different modes of transport are available into Arunachal etc )
b) How to travel and is it possible to travel in Dec or Jan or Feb weather wise ( assuming Covid conditions improve much more by then)
c) Good & cozy places to stay
d) Good places to visit & see ( its going to be a leisure trip for 2 people - not a race across places ) - got approx. 2 weeks of vacation.
e) Any permit requirement for Indians
f) Current travel requirements / conditions like any quarantine rules

Ps: if you have such information for any other states like Manipur, Nagaland , Mizoram or Tripura please do share

Hope you guys got the Jist

Arunachal has quite a few routes (12, as per my last check). You need to finalize on one/ two of them and then decide on logistics and other details. The most common one is Tawang, which is fairly well known and explored, goes via sela pass at a decent height, so snowfall may lead to road closures, which would be opened soon by BRO. Other circuits, you can check out here on @sanuroxz blogs or on arunachal toursim site.

Dibrugarh and Guwahati would be nearest airports for most of them.

Nagaland the main circuit is Dimapur - Kohima - Mokokchung-Mon - Longwa, which quite a few people have done. From Kohima there are decent outings to Pfutsero, tribal villages (especially around hornbill) and djukou valley (if trekking is your thing)

Meghalaya (though not asked, so i assume you have info on the same), the main circuit is Shillong - Mawphlang- Sohra-Mawlynnong- Shongpdeng- Shillong. Other inclusions could be Mawphanlur, Mawlygbna and Jowai

Yes. Just we completed our trip of Tawang in October end.
a) You can reach Guwahati by air, rail & road. From there you can travel to Tawang by air or by road. Helicopter service from Guwahati to Tawang available ( Rs.4000/person ) . You can rent a bike from Guwahati for your trip or can go by shared taxis. We travelled by rented bikes .
If you are going by road means, two routes are available. One via Tezpur, Bhalukpong and the other one is via Balemu, Kalaktong. Bhalukpong and Balemu are the entry gates to Arunachal where they will check for your permits.
b) It is possible to travel to Tawang in all seasons. But It would be too much cold in December & January. So take precautions accordingly.
c) We stayed in Anu Homestay in Bomdila, Hotel Samdupkhang in Dirang and Dondrub Homestay in Tawang. All are nice but the food in Samdupkhang is not good. Dondrub in Tawang is the best.
d) You can google it. But do visit Zemithang valley while in Tawang, Bhairabkunda in Assam, Arunachal, Bhutan border. ( We are allowed to enter Bhutan but due to Covid situation , the Bhutan gates are closed now.)
e)Yes. ILP is required. You can get it through online.
f) Quarantine not required. But covid certificate of both the doses of vaccine is required. Or one dose of vaccine with RTPCR report taken not more than 72 hours is required.
