In Pursuit of Happyness
IMHO DTC buses (Tata Macropolo Lowfloor) are much better than posted above.
Yes Yogesh, its surely different from Marcopolo city buses. APSRTC bought these rear engine Marcopolo city buses under JnNURM to run in Hyderabad and Vizag. Except that these has auto transmission, these ain't that good. The Non AC buses are decent. But the Air Conditioned buses, like ones below, are a problem. Due to improper heat insulation of engine deck, the Air Conditioning effect in the rear part of the bus is very less. Since 33% women reserved seats in the front part of the bus, men have to sit in the rear above engine deck . That's not case with Volvo city buses. Though Volvo buses are priced high, they deliver!
This is interesting! You have private operators running buses as city services. All new DTC buses are from Tata, though the orange ones belonging to bus clusters (large private operators) are Ashok Leyland.
Good to know that air conditioning is better than cars in DTC Marcopolo buses. In Hyderabad, my experience with Marcopolo bus's air conditioning is divided, the front half of the bus is pretty cool, no issues even when bus is crowded, but that's not case with rear half. The heat from the engine keeps neutralizing the cooling effect.+1^ Initially Macropolo was introduced, later on (around 2009) Ashok Leyland was also inducted in DTC Fleet.
As for airconditioning, it is much better than lot of cars, though never experienced in a really crowded situation.
