Hi All,

I am planning a trip to badrinath in mid Oct
-23. I will be reaching Dehradun by air along with kids abd wife. Since there is only 1 direct flight from Bangalore, so we will reach at 4 pm in Dehradun.
Here is a tentative itinerary:
Day 1. Bangalore to Dehradun. Now there are two options either to stay in Dehrdun or travel bit further. Since we will be reaching at 4pm, I am not sure if it is possible reach Srinagar that day. If anyone can advice what will be better?
Day 2. Reach Badrinath by evening
Day 3. Stay in Badrinath
Day 4. Badrinath to Rudraprayag. Stay in Rudraprayag
Day 5. Rudraprayag to Kedarnath and back
Day 6. Rudraprayag to Dehradun

Does this itinerary look good? Also, if anyone has information about a good and reliable taxi provider in Dehradun , please share.

Day 1 : 4pm to 9-10 pm
You can move towards Srinagar.
You can easily do if you are able to start at time.
Day 2 : Reach Badrinath by evening
Day 3 : Stay in Badrinath
Day 4 : You can easily move to Son Prayag / Sitapur or nearby. Do Registration for Yatra, if required.
Day 5 : Take Govt Vehicles from Son Prayag to to Gaurikund.
Take Mule / Horse to Kedarnath Temple at Top via long trek.
It will be an tiring & exhausting day.
It may take whole day.
Start Early in morning 5am / 6am to avoid rush if any.
Keep eye on AMS at Kedarnath Valley as it is at a good height.
Day 6 : Son Prayag to Dehradun will take whole day.

Take some taxi at Taxi Stand.
Other company packages will be costlier.

I will try to ask for any such number.

Hi,

I had done the Char Dham Yatra in May 2022 using my car (Nissan Magnite) from Goa (20 days trip) and it took 10 days in total between Haridwar to Haridwar. Since you are doing it for only 2 destinations, it would take about 6-7 days.

Before I give you my suggestion, I would focus on 2 very important topics - First Acclimatization, and Second mode of travel to Kedarnath (Helicopter or Mule). The success of the entire trip depends on this critical decision.

For Helicopter booking, Accommodation and Yatra registration please check on GMVN website. Yatra registration is mandatory and documents are checked at check posts of respective destinations.

Last year, there were some offline helicopter tickets available at the Guptkashi GMVN counter which I availed myself after waiting for 2 days. It costs around 7500 per head for a round trip. The Helicopter ride takes about 10 mins. Also there are some tickets reserved for VVIP Quota.

If planning a Trek or Mule / Horse ride, One has to hire a shared Jeep or walk from Sonprayag to Gaurikund (6Kms approx) and from there hire the Mule or walk for 22Kms one way.

For taxi, I had taken the contact of one Taxi driver named Raju whom I saw was driving his passengers with care. His contact number is 9756468676

To help you in making the decision, let me help you with part of the schedule I followed during my trip (Haridwar - Yamunotri - Gangotri - Kedarnath - Badrinath - Haridwar).

Day 1. Haridwar - Yamunotri
Day 2. Yamunotri trek
Day 3. Yamunotri - Gangotri
Day 4. Gangotri - Chamba (Tehri Gharwal)
Day 5. Chamba to Tilwara (Rudraprayag)
Day 6 and 7. Register at GMVN Guptkashi for offline Helicopter tickets and wait for our turn. (Stayed in GMVN Tilwara for 2 nights as I had my booking there). Stay in Guptkashi at one of the homestays near the Helipad after getting tickets.
Day 8. Visit Kedarnath temple and drive towards Badrinath in the afternoon. Reached Badrinath by night 9:00 PM.
Day 9. Visited Badrinath temple. Didn't go to Mana village as the weather was turning bad that day and my parents wanted to rest in the afternoon.
Day 10. Drive from Badrinath to Haridwar (10 hrs drive).

Hope the above info would help you revise your itenary and plan better.
