Which is the best hotel in Range of Rs. 200/- to Rs. 600/- in Leh & Manali? Give your vote.

For me
Leh - Oriental Guest House is the best
Manali - Sunshine Guest House is the best.

In Manali my vote would go to hotel Kalinga, stayed there twice in 2004 in off season and the room rent was Rs. 500 for a double bedroom room with bath tub etc.

For budget travelers in Manali hotel Shingar is also ok, you get double bed room with attached toilet, tv, round the clock hot water for Rs. 150 a night in off season.

Can't say about Leh because I had stayed in government guest house, but near Pangong Tso the Eco huts at Rs. 250 a night are really good. For Kargil, Drass, Rangdum and Padum (Zanskar) the J&K tourist bungalow are the best with low tarifs and good accommodation.

Interesting topic.
I guess when you travel to Leh from Manali, you need to take a night halt unless its Raid De Himalaya on your mind.
For such a night halt is there any hotel for about 1000/night max.
For that matter is there "any hotel" in the places between Manali and Leh?

From Manali onwards you can find hotels and small guest houses till Darcha (150-155kms from Manali), beyond which you will only find tented accommodation till you cross Tanglang La and reach Upshi (55kms from Leh).

Marhi only has one place to stay at and most the time they ask big bucks. Better option get accommodation at Solang or Kokhsar.

Any map of the route with hotels indicated

A map with distances to these places would be great.
Tented is okay, but I guess when you have family travel a hotel is better.
About Marhi, how much do they always ask for?

Most of the map available online are pretty inaccurate, if you are looking to buy one then check out Next & Wings Ladakh map.

In Marhi there is a PWD guest house, so if you can book it prior to your travel it shouldn't cost much, if not then it would depend on your bargaining power with the asking price starting from Rs. 1000 a night (this was quoted to Salil).

Actually I can have access to GPS trails from the Manali to Leh route. But sadly those trails do not have the cities marked, just the exact route.
If there is small text which shows the places and the mile markers
Such as
Manali -0kms
Place 1 - 150 kms hotels 1,2,3
Place 2- 250kms hotels 1,2....
..
..
Leh - 380kms
