If you want to ride long distances with lots of loads, then you need to first chalk out your trip and the condition of the road on that route. E.g 80% on highways 20% on hills with bad roads or 40% on highways and 60% on bad roads, this information will help you to understand and prioritize your key requirement during the ride and what you need out of a Bike.
For long-distance riding, you need a comfortable motorcycle that doesn't tire you out after a few 100 kms. Also if it is a highway ride then you need to be able to cruise at a higher speed to cover the distance specifically boring 4/6 lane highways, so the bike has to have sufficient power to do a triple-digit cruise at not-so-high RPM to get the best fuel efficiency.
For the bad/hill road you need good block pattern tire ( note highway tires are good on highway but don't provide the right grip on Gravel, muddy or snowy roads) hence you have to go for better tires again based on what % is your highway and bad road in the entire route. Example, when i went to Ladakh i changed my brand new Rear MRF tyre to FKR ranger in Delhi. And i loved those Rangers ( recommended to me by our late Yogesh Sarkar, RIP my friend)
Product Review: FKR Ranger | BCMTouring
Those Tyres really helped me in bad to very difficult road conditions especially when I encountered slush and snow along with rain. but was not so great on Highways. But nowadays there are many good tires that are available for such duty provided you know what you want out of them. E.g. Michelin Sirac Street Ind
As suggested above you have multiple choices depending on your budget
1. Himalayan is one such bike custom made for this kind a trip
2. KTM 390 Adventure is an extremely potent and fun bike
3. Yezdi Adventure is another option
Offcourse your choice of Classic with modification can also be in the fray but then you have to spend time with her to ensure she does that route with ease.
Best way to identify is to do small ride ( if available) with the above options and then decide based on what is most suitable for you and your taste.
