Bike Transport from New Delhi to Srinagar-Reg

Hi,
I am coming from Chennai and plan to take my bike to Leh Ladakh for my travel. My plan for transport is to send to New Delhi and from there take an overnight bus to Srinagar. The only buses that ply are by Jammu and Kashmir Transport Corporation(JKTC). Do these buses allow for bike transport in their buses. Or is there any other way to get it their overnight. If I have to travel to Jammu and proceed by bike from there(Worst case scenario and I have it as the last option), is it a safe enough option that I won't waste a day due to some problems as it's a very sensitive area. What other ways would you suggest?. I looked into gati and they have given an estimate of 20 days, which I feel is too long. But if thats the best option I would take it too.
Thanks in advance

Delhi to Jammu is a overnight journey which takes around 12-13hrs in a bus. Then from Jammu to Srinagar, it will take another 7-8hrs at the minimum and in case of traffic jams (which are common these days due to road construction), it will take a lot more.
The JKSRTC buses are not good for such a long journey. Jammu-Srinagar highway is full of dust and it will be really uncomfortable in a bus. And no way you can load a bike in a bus.

So I would suggest you to transport the bike to Jammu via train and then ride from Jammu to Srinagar and further.

There is actually a direct bus for Delhi to Srinagar available

You can contact Delhi ISBT counter by searching landline number in Google of JKSRTC.
They will answer on phone if they can carry your bike along or not.
99.99% Chance is NO.
Otherwise take bike by train till Jammu as others do.

I have travelled in that bus few years back till Jammu. That's why I said those aren't comfortable.
Other private ac buses are better.
Also, travelling in a bus on Jammu-srinagar route is idiotic IMO as there is simply too much dust and buses take longer to cover the said distance.

I got inconsistent answers from different quarters.
The best way to take it is to go to Udhampur and then continue to Srinagar which saves about 2 hours in travel

Just wanted to give an update here.
Udhampur is not a final stop and trains stop here just for a couple of minutes. You can either go to katra(which is the next stop) or travel to Jammu. But if Jammu is unstable at the time, you would be stuck

Don't worry,
Jammu is stable and almost everything is available there due to good infrastructure and it is a big city.
Udhampur is last stop towards Kashmir's Srinagar valley area.
Udhampur to Katra is a U turn.
If you choose katra as last station, you have to come back to Udhampur via road only.

@nadz11.ns is from Jammu only.
You can ask about current situation here.
