You can carry upto 2 litres. Throughout India, except dry states.
Does this also means in Trains or public transport buses.

1. Train passing through Dry State, say Delhi to Bombay, with Gujrat in between.
2. If bottle is unsealed , say half consumed.

@citymonk: I have never heard people checking luggage in trains during entry or exit. And as far as carrying unsealed bottle on train, its illegal. Its considered as alcohol has been consumed in train which is not allowed.

I've got away with cops (on train / stations) in Gujarat saying that I am travelling to Diu or Daman or Silvassa. Ofcourse this works only if you have a sealed bottle :)

no problem with Indigo for sure whether it's in Shellcase or rucksack just wrap around your btls with thick towels for their safety from handling by the airport luggage guys.

Just had an experience with indigo today. Me and my friend were carrying bottles in checked in luggage. At guwahati airport the security allowed me to carry on as I had a full sealed bottle but my friend had to forego his black label as it was opened! There were only two pegs left but it was still a sacrifice!!

Seems to me you were carrying the bottles in your carry on baggage, not 'checked in' baggage.
